Hello All,
What are the best ball ice molds or supersized ice cube molds? Looking to get some and want to get the easiest to use.
Thanks Wade!

What Dane said...I got one of those from my Sister.
They are very nice. Just follow the instructions and don't over freeze. Makes killer cubes.

Any chance you could expand on over freezing ice???

It has to do with following the instructions provided with the product. The device allows the water to freeze from the top down, forcing the air bubbles to move to the unfrozen section. After the right amount of time, the ice cube is clear and the holding tray still contains unfrozen water.

Do you all just use tap water or do you take it a step further by using the likes of Fiji, Evian or Icelandic bottled water?
My generation had Wonder Woman. The current generation has to wonder if it really is a woman.

Ridge, I've used filtered or "bottled" from a gallon jug if the local water had a taste I didn't like. Filtered in a Brita would probably work too. That has usually been when I was on the road somewhere in a motel with a fridge. I tried it once long ago to get less white ice, didn't help much.
For true clear ice you have to freeze big chunks (like a small cooler) then cut off the part that accumulates all the gasses. I've got pictures of Caddilacdoc in his kitchen with a band saw slicing up a big block into cunks... OCD is a terrible thing, but it can yield in some really good whisky, food and cigars :bounce:

The instructions say to freeze for a certain amount of time (6-8 hours I think) and say "Do not freeze for 24 hours" which I did once cause I forgot about them and although they appeared and worked just fine they were a total bitch to get out of the mold. I won't over freeze again....it sucked.
