MRR1987 Fakes

I bought the following boxes from MRR1987
2007 Siglo VI on 4/14/22
2021 Siglo VI on 5/9/22
2021 Espy on 5/14/22

The 2007s are without a doubt legit and have been resold to a big collector who couldn't be happier. These were sold privately.

The Siglo VIs were sold to another member here after I held onto them for a while. We both had bought from MRR and he knew that's where these came from and he expressed he thought MRRs Cohiba were good to go. Upon receiving them, he noticed a lot of red flags. The biggest one was the serial numbers were spaced too far apart. We have found no other boxes that resemble this. The second thing we noticed was the hologram on the wax paper looked so terrible. It couldn't be more obvious. Sadly this is something that I missed. This person and I are on the same page and he will be getting a full refund.

The Espy were sold here to ChicagoRob after I also held onto them for a while. Robert has been very helpful and has given me permission to use his name. Robert held onto the box for about a week, then noticed multiple issues with the construction of the cigars. I am quoting him below...


"Many were not close to round but oval. One had a straight up crease down the length of it. A few had like a straight up flat side (like a single box press side). Multiple caps were poor, lopsided, crooked. And that was just on the top layer - I didn't even get into the 2nd level."

He has already shipped them back to me and I am waiting on them to arrive. I will be refunding him in full.

MRR1987 has been made aware of the situation. He denies knowing the cigars were fake and is working on getting in touch with the seller who he claims is Havana House Canada. I have asked for screenshots and he has refused, stating that he will share them if he finds that he was sold fakes purposely. I told him that this would not look good and that I would be posting this. He has promised a refund for both boxes, but claims that he is on vacation and I will receive the money next Friday at the latest as he has to be home to physically put cash into an account. I have told him I am not comfortable with this but I don't have much of a choice other than to wait. He has promised me that he will do his best.

I have also not included the other persons name as I have not been given permission yet.

MRR1987 had originally reached out to me after an ISO and a lot of our deals were done via text. I got a new phone and deleted a lot of old messages including this. Before you say it, yes I am idiot.

I should of looked at these boxes more. I got them, threw them in my humidor, then flipped them. I should of done better. I blame myself and will be giving a refund to both people I have sold them to.

My 2 questions for everyone is

1- What do I do with the 2 boxes? Send them back to MRR? Or do I destroy?

2- Is waiting until next Friday for a refund acceptable? I have expressed that it's 2022 and I can literally take any form of payment. But MRR has told me that he's doing what he can.

For the record, I paid G&S on the Espy but not the others.

I am not protecting MRR, but I am being respectful and transparent with all information given. He has been responsive to all questions asked. I'm sure there are a few members here who are happy to see this happen and will have a hay day, but please try to be civil.

MRR1987 has replied to all messages up to this point but says that he had no part in this and is trying to get in touch with the seller. I am not going to comment on the Novedos or other boxes sold as I have not physically seen them and that is not my business.

I hope you get your money back RBA...but right off the bat the excuses coming from the seller dont look good in my opinion.

Im not trying to rub salt in the wound...but not being able to see this one coming a mile away is crazy...new guys just dont appear out of thin air selling 15 year old boxes of cohibas...and right when prices are doubling and tripling...its mind boggiling to me...anyhow...good luck...you are going to need it.
