Cuban Cigar Excessive Price Increases. Now what?
We'd all have to be living in a cave if we didn't know about Cuban Cigar price increases by Habanos SA. Personally, I hope they fall flat on their faces. I've enjoyed my years of smoking Cubans but it now appears to be one and done. I smoked NC's before I got here and I'll continue to smoke them. But even NC's are starting to get terribly expensive. I've also noted that there are several NC's that are actually better, IMHO, than Cuban Cigars.
As of the last couple of weeks, I have cut back on cigars. I usually relax every night with a good cigar. As of late, it has been cut back to 3 times a week at best. I don't have to have them. When I see MC #2's I used to get 8 years ago for $200 a box now selling for $600 +, I'm so over it.
So I've been seeing more and more NC's posted for sale here in the place of CC's. Maybe that is the new direction of OH.
Habanos SA can suck it. Don't need them.

Yeah. You pay $900 for a box of CoRo. 25 sticks, $36 each.
8 sticks have no draw, you throw those out.
Another 8 sticks burn poorly, lack flavor, you pitch it after not even smoking half-way.
6 sticks burn okay but are kind of meh, flavor-wise.
3 sticks actually draw well, burn sharp, good flavor, and give you the experience you expect.
So you really paid about $300 each for the good cigars.

It reminds me of the late 90's boom. The CC market will crash and prices will become more reasonable over there next few years.

Cuban prices have put them out of reach for everyone but those with money to burn. IMO, Nigaraguan prices are bound to follow suit. Now is the time to stock up on the good ones. Curivari is one I'm liking a lot.

In groups on FB have made a few amazing cigar friends who live in Canada. You can see others are friends too, like here. I only mention this because of trust and knowing what the other guy has in their collection.
We are now talking and trading more. For example, one friend really digs Trinidad. Sure, hot and soaring in value. But Mr. Beaver likes Cohiba. Yadda yadda yadda.
The only thing I am finding intolerable in the text from some stranger who looks at an auction for a vintage of beautiful this or that, before it ends or they tried to bid on it. They text you and say, Do you have another one? I can’t afford that 15%!”. It is a box that there might be 1/100 right now. This is why it is in the auction.
Sheesh.

Yep. Tough row to hoe.
I will say that the increase in Cohiba and Trini does not really affect me. I don't buy them any more and I rarely smoke the ones I have. But when you see a box of Lusi's for $625.00 I just laugh. Smoke what you got and go to lesser expensive alternatives. Be an edumacated consumer! :nana: Like Smokey sang "... You got to shop around..." Heh...

I hadn't bought CCs in a while and recently decided to restock. Ridiculous!

This didnt age well. That box of fresh Lusi is now selling for 775$ when you can actually find them. Way more on secondary groups. Cabs are 1700+ :-\

The price of Trinidad Reyes is not as outrageous as at auction with the sisters for some weird reason. They have also refilled their inventory, as most here must already know.
But have not heard from her today about my order so the inventory list might change soon. If I went nuts so might other smokers around the world lololol. She was only letting us buy 50 sticks before. Let’s see what happens now.
