Help identifying cc

Post by jrfoxx »

So, i have 2 of these that were gifted to me and I was told that they are 1998 Punch Super Selection no.2's.

Several people have questioned it, so i did some investigating on cubancigareebsite.com, and the 5.5 inch length and 42rg, as well as having a pre 2009 band, doesn't match up with either of the Super Selections.

So now I have no idea what it really is.
Unfortunately can't figure out who I got it from searching my pm's to ask about it.

Anyone able to identify it?

Its also slightly box pressed if that helps

Sorry,  unable to post a picture here

Punch Royal Selection #12, perhaps?

Yeah,  saw that one and it does seem to fit the measurements.

Yeah,  saw that one and it does seem to fit the measurements.

Someone else on another forum said that it has a pre 2009 band, and the one you linked had no band until 2005, then a standard band,  so assuming he is correct on the band, that one doesn't match up.  Also think its closer to 5.5inch

First, confirming that this is not a Punch SS2, which was my favorite Corona Gorda, 5-5/8x46.  I do not recall seeing any with bands, although I do recall that the rare boxes of 25 may have had bands.  The Punch Royal Selection #12 was a mareva, so it can't be that. My guess is it's a Punch Coronas.

Yeah,  several others on other forums have also said that its a Corona.  Everything fits it perfectly,  so I believe that everyone is correct that it's a Coronas.

Now just need a way to figure out the age since what I was told by the gifter may also be incorrect

Black Prince was also a Corona Gorda, 5-5/8x46.  Last box of those I had was from 1001 Cuban Cigars, 1999, couldn't make them draw...

[/quote]I'm very confident that its a Corona at this point.  The length,  rg and band are a perfect match.

Now just unsure if the age I was told is correct,  since the identification was wrong.

Waiting for a response from a very knowledgeable vintage Cigar smoker and Seller to chime in about the age, as in the past at some point they came in cellophane,  but eventually weren't,  so hoping he is able to help date it by that

I have never seen Punch Coronas in Cello, I have smoked Punch Coronas from the 60, 70's, 80' and 90's none came in cello. I still think yours is more then likely 98, 99, there were tons of boxes available!
