Magnum 46

Post by WadeFillingame »

Oh my this is one full-bodied cigar.  I’ve had these before but I didn’t remember the profile, and it was probably part of a 15 or 20 cigar weekend.

For the last decade or more I’ve been kind of a creature of habit and mostly smoked Punch and RyJ with a few Cohibas and the occasional EL and some Johnny Os.  I should have been getting these too.

I think the RyJs have a medium cedar-ish kind of profile, and Punch are a delicious medium that I love, this is full on tobacco flavor, and it’s big and heavy.  Maybe some of the “hints of” reviewers would say leather, but to me it’s like biting the cap off tobacco flavor with every pull.

Diggin’ it

I agree. Mag 46 to me is definitely the strongest of the Hups. I've been digging the Sir Winnie's from 14 lately and No2's never disappoint as well.

A 15-20 cigar weekend? You are an expensive lad but one with great taste.

The only RyJ in my collection is Cazadores. One because it is a lonsdale, my favourite size. Two because it has the strength and taste quality not found in any RyJ IMO. Especially if it has some age!

The other cigars with some blood taste we love are Trinidad Coloniales. Again with some age.

We have always avoided Bolivar like the peppery plague. But who knew? Smoked a couple of smaller ones the other day and liked them.

Enjoy your journey, Wade.

@canadianbeaver Have you smoked the recent 2019 Trinidad Coloniales? I’ve found them to be exceptionally good right now with no rough edges. The Coloniales and RyJ Churchill’s are my two favorite cigars of 2019 so far.

Have had several boxes. The Colonial are so good! Never smoked a Fundadores. Don’t think I have the attention span for that.

For 2019 have to also vote for QDO No 50. When you order them online you still get 2018’s, even better.
