Cuban Cigars

I dont get the hype around them. Granted i havent smoked nearly as many of them compared to NC’s. Its either flat mono flavored smoke or plugged. I really have never had one yet thats as good as a decent nc. i dont know maybe its me or i just smoked the wrong ones. Anyone have experience to the contrary?

You definitely have smoked the wrong ones. All nc cigars I have smoked are all one dimensional except Warped. Try the Lirio Rojado. Or try a Juan Lopez #2. Or a LGC MDO#4.
You would be surprised.

There is nothing like a great Cuban! They contain a certain element of earth that gives them a tasty twang. The twang is what is unique. There are also countless flavors intermingled, yummy!

I have tons of both, and I’m grabbing an NC 95% of the time. 75% of Cubans I smoke are too mild.  They are good if I’m coming off an illness or it’s first thing in the morning. But different strokes/smokes for different folks.

See if you can score a sampler of good and well stored CC from well banked BOTL here. Age very important, authenticity, and mid to low 60% are more common with CC as well as weather you smoke them in. I would lay any down for at least 3 weeks or more and stabilise before smoking. Bolivar stronger and I personally find the smaller gauges more complex and enjoyable with the PL HuP Coh and Party. There is no question NC has become increasingly high quality and complex and now hold 6 of my top 10 favorite smokes. Good journey!

Not sure what years you’re smoking. I’ve been smoking mostly 14 and newer. Maybe a plug here or there, but so few that I can’t really recall anything. Flavors were great in most, blah in some. For me, Cuban tobacco is just great. You can keep the mouth full of pepper nic, DR stuff. Other than a few NC I stay with CC. To each their own.

All CCs aren't mild. I mean obviously they can't compare to nicotine blast from a Joya De Nicaragua but I don't need that kind of hit anyways. I recently smoked a somewhat young(almost a yr old) RASS and I must admit that it very much relaxed me. I do agree with you on the point of plugs, and it's a problem that persists to this very day. I mean is it that hard to roll the smokes where we can get a decent draw? They just need more consistency and better QC. I don't think that's too much to ask with the popularity of Cuban cigars.

The Cuban hype? Well, if there wasn't something special about Cuban tobaccos, then the NC companies themselves would not be hyping such things as Cuban-seed, Cubanesque, Cuban heritage or authentic Cuban influence on their own websites.

Sounds like, to me, the OP has completely blown out his palate with Nic spice and pepper, and can't smoke a milder or even medium strength cigar and detect the subtle nuances and flavors of some of the greatest cigar tobacco in the world.  There are strong Cubans, but none of them blast you with pepper, leather, and dirt flavors, like the Nic cigars I have had.
