Johnny-O EL Siglo 6

For what its worth, I have a decent stock of Cohiba Siglo 6 in my collection, 2015, 2013 stock and some tubos so I would classify myself as a fan of the cigar although it is not my favorite cohiba by a wide margin (that would be the siglo 5).  Recent Siglo 6s (my 2015 boxes to be specific) have left me wanting more, more flavor, more power…especially for such an expensive regular production stick.

With that said, I wanted to review the Johnny-O EL Siglo 6 for a bit of contrast.  I picked these up in October of last year from John.  The first thing upon inspecting the cigar is the quality by which it is rolled.  Packed nicely but not overfilled, with a nice shade of wrapper that I would classify as medium Colorado.  The cigar drew very nicely and produced good amounts of smoke…I paired it with a cold beer to start…the flavors were intense without being harsh…it tasted like what I expect a Siglo 6 to taste like…full buttery and rich.  Little past the halfway my burn went a bit sideways and smoke production dwindled.  I set it down and let it rest for a while…it actually went out.  So I decided to pour a scotch and light up a partagas Maduro.  I smoked that cigar and returned to light up the siglo 6…I figured my taste buds were significantly blurred from the beer scotch and now Maduro cigar that it would just be an exercise in finishing the cigar so that I wouldn’t waste.  The cigar lit up like a champ and returned to good form…it was powerful enough to still deliver a nice smoking experience to end my night. 

John has really delivered some great smokes up and down his EL line…his customer service is not equaled in this sector.  If you are on the fence or wondering what the deal is…I’ll just say the smokes I have purchased have far exceeded my expectations.
