Boli Question

Post by ivo »

So... I've been looking at the Petite Coronas and the Tubos #2. Both are 5.1" x 42.  I've tried the PC's.  Love 'em.  Are the #2 Tubos  similar?  Same?  Crap?

Anyone care to share their experience on this?  It may affect a future buy for me.  The source I like has the tubos right now, but hasn't had the PC's for a little while.  And I've been waiting.  Should I keep waiting?  TIA.

I have never had the Tubos, but man are those PC's great. I would assume they are similar, but you never no what you are going to get and how long they will need to sit before they come alive in flavor.

Excellent question that I hope someone can shed some light on.  I too have enjoyed many a PC, (and CE, and Imensa, and... well, you get the point).  I have been aging a box of '02 #2 tubos that I'll probably crack in like 3-5 years or so and wonder what their profile is like.

MRN says the following on the subject:
"Packaged in tubes.  The cigar tastes similar to Petite Coronas of the same vitola.  Cigars in tubes might require longer aging time, but the end results are better."

I have no experience with theses, but I have always heard that cigars in tubes are very similar to the same size non-tube version of the cigar. What cigars I have tried in tubes I have liked. I know that not much help, but even if the one in the tube are 1/2 as good as a Boli PC you will have a good cigar.

Knuck and Atom- thanks for confirming what I suspect.  I know there's someone out there who has experience with these two sticks.  Dammit, man!  Let loose with your information!!!  ;D

:twocents:

I enjoy both but find 98 tubos #2 to be far different than 98 PCs in comparing year to year.  The tubos seem to be a totally different animal, more what I would compare to a CE than a PC.  All the cabs I have sampled, I felt the PC were not as strong as other Bolivars, the 98 tubos are strong as anything in the line.  YMMV.

So what did you end up going with? Or what are you leaning towards?

Figure I'll go with the PC's.  But I'll probably try to post an ISO here, and get a few, along with some others.  Any box purchases I want are going to have to be put on hold for a bit, unfortunately.

Well, a fine BOTL hooked me up with a couple fivers of PC's.  I'm not sure yet- only smoked one so far, but I think I like Bolivar's larger vitolas more-  time will tell.
