Protect your passwords folks....

Post by WadeFillingame »

I've been notified by one of our well known users users that someone tried to use the "reset password" function on his account.

In doing some investigating it seems that the same person attempted to reset several people's (again well known users) passwords.  The system here requires that you follow a link from your listed email to reset, so the only way it can work is if the "hacker" can get to your email.

Protect your passwords.

Lots of hacking going around recently folks.  Another big forum provider (verticalscope) announced that their usernames and pw hashes were stolen.  If you share usernames, emails, pw's between forums (or any website) its a good idea to change all of them asap.  Better idea to not share passwords.  Use a password manager (like Lastpass) with 2 stage authentication to make your life easier in tracking all of these passwords.

https://haveibeenpwned.com/ is a good site to let you know if your email addresses have been part of any well known hacks.

Bump
Be sure and make deposits in all areas of your life, because at some point you will need to make a withdraw. No deposits are more important than those made in relationships.

Just received another request to set the password. Someone keeps on trying.

If you have a simple password, I suggest to change it to a complex one (Alphanumeric with upper and lower case and special characters)

Anyone who has received notification of an attempt to reset your password, please PM the IP associated with that attempt.

If your password is something simple that can be guessed your acct is vulnerable.
