The initial premise of this thread is absurd.  Are you seriously proposing that someone buys 3 or 4 boxes of a vitola from the same yr and some are great and some are crap?

I've smoked an arse load of CCs over the last 20 yrs or so.  I will be the first to say that yr to yr there can be significant variation (remember how good Fundys were in '98, then poof they were gone)  Other than what ever happened in Cuba to cause the 99/00 disaster I've never felt that one box of Punch Churchills from '98 was better or worse than another.  Or that one box of RyJ Shorts from '07 was better or worse than another.

Sure, the possibility exists that someone bought 2 boxes from yr 1 and yr 2 and yr 2 wasn't very good so he swapped boxes.  Yea, that can happen.  But regularly, you must have started watching the X Files again.

I understand that some folks love to throw rocks at this site, but for the life of me I can't understand why you come here at all if you hate this site as much as you claim.  On occasion I buy from people here, and from folks overseas.  Both work for me.

But what if he bought cigar juice and the humi pucks;)

I can see someone buying 4 to 5 boxes of something then selling all but one at a markup, thus keeping a free or discounted box for themselves.  Free market as you like.

But even if someone took cigars from multiple boxes to do said act, they would be different shades of wrapper and be quite obvious.  Iirc, someone got called out for replacing 1 fundy in a box since it was obviously not the same shade not too long ago.

Not to mention how hard it would be to guess which cigars in any box smoke better than the others?!?!?  Cmon....
Cheers

Great - now some schweinhund has a new scam to run. I like people who do like I do - send others the BEST sticks and keep the one-offs for themselves. There's a couple folks here who do just that (and I can tell).

Do the cigars you buy have clipped ends where someone tried to take dry draws or something?

Forget about selling, I just wish I knew which cigars were going to smoke well just by looking at them and touching them.

Some of the best cigars I've had were the "free" 00 Punch RS 12s that 1K1 used to give away during their Christmas promotion ... ugly cigars and from a suspect year, but oh so good.

Quit beating around the bush and just call out your suspected cherry picker buyers/dog rocket resellers.

Weigh them. The heavier cigars contain more tobacco and are more likely to have restricted draw. A glance at the foot of a cigar can also give a hint as to how tightly it's been rolled.

These  comments are in no way supporting the OP's premise...just an FYI. I actually agree with the opinion of folks posting above, that it's unlikely. More likely is the practice of buying 4 boxes and selling 3 at a 33% markup. Or buying a box and selling 3-4 sets of 5ers at a sufficient markup to get some free cigars. I, personally, don't have a problem with either practice. The latter practice is actually providing a service to folks who can't or choose not to buy a full box.

C'mon guys. This is a site for cigar commerce, and both of the above examples are just how commerce works. There are unscrupulous people everywhere...no more here than anywhere else, and less than in a few businesses I can think of :)

To the OP...some unsolicited advice. If you don't like what you get here, and it's happened apparently multiple times, it's on you after the first couple of times. Either become more diligent in your research of the sellers, or import the cigars yourself.

Where has TimO been lately?  After Taps (forcefully) left, he provided the BZ entertainment.
