LOL yeah... you got me. Dude, if I WERE a scammer you would never see it coming you stupid fucking kid. I'm actually dealing with a lot of grown folk shit right now, I'm certainly sorry I came here thinking it was a place for brothers. You sir are no brother of mine.. and I surely didn';t take a fucking dime from anyone in this thread. I sold 2 boxes of Padrons and they arrived safe and sound quickly.
I can direct you to the buyer if you need to verify? Or would the facts simply not be as fun as making up bullshit.
Cohim, I am sorry bro, you can see life has been hectic and considering that this wasn't a cash exchange it definitely took a lower priority. I'm sorry about that. I'll get you some goodies out asap and I'll even post tracking info in public since this GIFT has become a public matter.
Un fucking real.

No worries. Get your house in order first. Without a good base the structure will fall.

Honestly if I thought that anyone in this place gave a shit about anyone unless they chose them for their click, I'd never post these things.
It's a shame that this community has degraded Into this. I've been a part of a lot of boards and sometimes a bad apple will pop up but the community makes sure to shake the tree and they always fell off. Here it seems to be the opposite.
I know there's good people here (you for example have shown that you're a stand up guy) unfortunately they don't seem to be the loud ones.
I'll reach out to you in the next day or two as this crisis seems to have almost ended. And it worked out well for this kid.
Talk to ya soon Cohim!

Seemed to me like there was a lot of good advice offered here, like alumni associations, taking a semester off, etc. Those options might not be as easy as a handout, but far more in line with self reliance and self respect. And you'll find people are far more willing to offer charity when someone has truly exhausted all other avenues.
Seems to me this community doesn't deserve the broad aspersions you've cast merely because it offered a different kind of help than you expected.

Well stated. I agree wholeheartedly.

[/quote]Whoa there. I think you may have gone a little far there Richter.
While I read your story and felt for the young man you were attempting to get help for I have to admit I was hearing little warning voices going off in my head. It's not that I didn't want to believe you and want to see this young man continue on his path BUT...
In the recent past there have been several douchebags who have come into OLH and taken advantage of some of the good peeps here. Members like Taps are always on the lookout for these people and they are generally more suspicious of people then other members here are.
You were offered several different means to help with the situation and I think as a result of some of those suggestions and some questions that arose from the discussion Taps then decided that he thought you were scamming.
That in my opinion IS the definition of a community. Taps was trying to protect us all from what he saw as a scam. He may or may not have been right but he was trying to protect the community.
I don't have any opinion on crowd funding for different things, as it seems to be the way a lot of good things are getting accomplished these days.
So I can see both sides of this and can't find anything wrong with either position. It was a KEWL thing you were trying to do by helping this young man. You asked for help, help was offered. The help that was offered maybe didn't take the form you thought it might but it was offered with good intentions.
Can't see why there would be hard feelings of any kind over this situation. A little time to think rationally and let the emotions calm down and I think you may agree that everyone in this situation acted properly. You mentioned that this place was not the community that it once was. I can't agree with that wholly as in this case it definatley acted as a community.
You had a problem and you thought you could bring it to the OLH community to get some help.
Taps thought there was something fishy going on and he warned the community about the possible dangers going forward.
I realize that you both disagree with each others position, but that doesn't mean either of you were wrong. Glad everything seems to be working out for the young man.
