Vintage CC

Post by sjmistry »

Is it really worth the hype? The oldest I have smoked is about 5 years old and it was pretty good. Is there a point of no return where it has passed how good it was or could be?

Looking for advice because not sure about how long I should plan to keep my current stash as I bought them to burn and not to collect.

Thanks.

There is no magic formula. Every vintage year is different  and every marca is different. One of the most important factors is how the cigars have been kept. Temp, humidity, and air circulation all effect how they age.

Yes,there is a peak,and a decline.

This decline may take a long time, and even an extremely old cigar can be magical.

The cigars made before 2003 have the potential to reach the amazing complexity found in Cuban cigars for decades.
After 2003?  We need time to find that out.......

Are you saying there is a 12 year or so time frame, or just a general range for proper aging? I know the cigars ice had pre 2003 (boli corona gigantes, few Cohiba, few RA) were all magical. But I've had cigars with 4-6 years that have much better flavors.

I'd like to hear your thoughts on this because 2003 seems specific.

The link below is a post I made last year about my experiences with vintage cigars.
