I think he is just trying NOT to sell a fake. By putting in the gifted one I believe he hopes he will be passing on real CC's.
On another note. This thing about selling gifted cigars. I don't do it myself, but I really don't have a problem with it. Suppose someone gifts you a cigar which you know you don't like? Should you keep it and never smoke it? Tell him you don't like his gift?
In this case the seller is trying to make sure he isn't selling a fake so he gets called out for selling a gift?
If someone gifts you something... anything, it is yours. If you decide to give your property away it is your right to do so. If I gift someone something and then tell them what they should or shouldn't do with it, it really wasn't a gift, as a gift is given freely. Just my opinion on this subject which I see come up from time to time.

Once I give a cigar, or anything we both consider a gift, to someone, it is NONE OF MY BUSINESS what the recipient does with it. But I myself don't sell something I receive as a gift, and even try not to gift a cigar that's been given to me. My reason for the latter is just lack of knowledge of the provenance...this thread being a fairly good illustration.
