Dallas, TX; Javier's or Havana Social Club

Post by elrico »

Javier's is on McKinney a few miles North of downtown.  Good Mexican restaurant (Central Mexico, not Tex-Mex) and a great cigar bar.  Not sure how they avoid problems with the smoking ban, but they do.  Great margaritas and a pretty good people watching scene for the 30+ crowd....

Havana Social Club is a pretty cool cigar bar just South of the American Airlines Center in the Victory Plaza.  Huge rum selection, and a decent cigar selection.  Some pretty good cigars can be purchased for cigar bar prices that aren't too crazy.  Great location.

Can you comment on bringing outside smokes into Havana Social Club.  If you buy some singles, will they let you smoke your own?  That location would be nice to smoke after an event at AAC.

I've done it and I've seen others bringing in their own as well, but I'll typically buy at list one there if I go.  They have a few relatively affordable selections, but most of the cigars are about 2x retail...pretty typical for a high-end cigar bar I think.  I was just there a couple of weeks ago, after a Mavs game, and the patio sure is nice when the weather cooperates....good people watching!

Enjoy!

Javier's was granted an exemption to the smoking ban by being classified as a existing cigar bar. They fought hard for that exemption and was one of the few establishments that were grant one here in Dallas.

I haven't been to HSC yet, but i understand it is quite a nice establishment.
