What is his phone number?  You did call him on the phone before sending him $1500 correct?  Get current pictures via text or email with date verification in the picture?  Have him send the package certified mail with signature?  Did you get a picture with the numbered box (if they are numbered)?  Then you can post on here that you claimed box (232/2000) on his feedback so people can make sure not to purchase the same box 10 times?
