Could this be the source of the fake Opus?

Post by Myfirstandlastname »

This shop posted their online store on another forum, and being the conspiracy guy that I am, my first thought was to the well-rolled knock offs with opus bands that we have been seeing.

The story is that the owner (Franklin) grew up in the DC and got a job at the Fuente factory. After six months of rolling on the floor, they pulled him to be an opus roller where he worked rolling #2's for 14 years.

Now he has this shop and rolls the house blend, but will also roll these liga especial

Which look like fuente grotto knock offs.

He can roll the shapes, maybe he's the guy rolling these fake opus that are flying around.

No actual evidence, just a theory.

There's probably more of these guys around than you'd like to think.  It's a transferable skill.

Whom ever is rolling the fakes is a talented and fantastic roller, but the blend is crap. This guy is rolling cigars that are so close to the real thing, it's amazing.
Is he is a first class roller and a first class asshat as well? ??? ???. With his skills, he doesn't need to be rolling fakes. At least I Assume that he would know that these were fakes. If he didn't when he rolled them he should have heard about all this by now. He would know that he too had been duped so someone could pass off his work as something other then he thought they would.
I mean a roller with that skill set has to be someone known in the industry no? Would a roller like that knowingly roll cigars which were to be passed off as something they weren't? Or would he be a mark in all this as well?

This thread and title are completely out of context for the Battle Zone! :)

Shouldn't it be "Originator of the fake Opus!"

Less questions, more false facts and assumptions please.  :nana:

Oh and a nice set of tits can't hurt. :)
Be sure and make deposits in all areas of your life, because at some point you will need to make a withdraw. No deposits are more important than those made in relationships.
he makes more rolling crap than rolling for a legit company. There has been plastic, floor sweepings, and numerous other things found in three fakes. His genious will eventually be his down fall. Loose lips always sink ships. Industry will prevail.

The question is:

Did CBid/CI know they were purchasing fakes?  How could they be so out of touch with one of their biggest money makers as to not know that a double robusto maduro Opus was never sold commercially?
