I'm going to weigh in here just a little.
Yes, I think I made it pretty clear that I was tired of some of the stuff in the shout. Yes, some folks didn't take me seriously, and yes there were some suspensions. (some longer than others depending on the number of past offenses)
Maybe someone sending a PM could have calmed thing down, and maybe I'll pick the right 6 numbers Friday.
I'm not a fan of "rats" myself; however, this site operates on the principle that the users contact me if there are violations. I open the TSBC about once a quarter. Seriously, I almost never look. People posting in violation of the rules always get reported. Without it this place doesn't work, because I don't have time to be the hall monitor.
This is your website, sure, I make the rules, but the rules I make are to make it work for me as the one man show, and for you the folks to provide the forum that we have to allow the trade and discussion that happens here. If it was just me it would be pretty boring.
Yes, we're all grownups, but that doesn't mean that all of us are comfortable or want to see profanity laced insults every time we open the site. In truth I think that's more like adolescents that have discovered some new words than adults.
If someone thinks that there are things going on here that are wrong for the site then they have every right to come to me. Hell, I want them to. There are lots of times when people have complained to me of things here in the BZ and I just quote the forum description to them.
For the record, I was Navy [MM1(SS)], I served in the engine rooms of fast attack subs for 4 of my 6 yrs. I can and have violated every boundary of acceptable behavior you can imagine, and some that you can't. (some of those stories require lots of alcohol) The main page of the forums is no more the place to have a profanity laced discussion than the lobby of an office building, or the entrance to your favorite restaurant.

I actually in a way regretted starting that thread, but later on (the last few pages) I knew it was the right thing to do.

It was mentioned that I was ratted by someone who may not like me. For that person to not like me, means they have not been given the proper chance to know me. Sometimes this childish banter that goes on here gets misread, or the jest of the subject gets a bit distorted. Anyone here would be pleasantly surprised if they would have the chance to come to NOLA and allow me to host them. You can ask Wade if I am a good host. Wade can tell you that I am not evil or anything else you may think about me. But I am one crazy sailor, and live life to the fullest, and I enjoy a good time. So if my antics have insulted someone here I apologize , and I will buy the first 2 rounds when you come to NOLA. :)

I don't doubt that you are crazy and lots of fun to be around. I'm just saying what lots of others are trying to convey.
I get crazy as hell too if the time is right. And if Im ever in NOLO all drinks are on me (but only if I just got paid) the 15th and the 30th are good times for that!

I don't know what was "grabbed" and reported to Wade, but seems to me if you can't handle the ramifications of what you post, don't post it. Have the balls to own it if someone does alert the powers that be and quit blaming someone else for what you type and then click that "Post" button. Seems pretty simple to me.
