Fake Opus

Post by tarkington »

I am the proud owner of a couple fake opus maduro double robusto.
Got them from C- Bid a while back.
Also bought a couple Don Carlos edition de anniversario.
Haven't  smoked the Opus, but the Don Carlos tasted like a 5 Vegas.
I think other high end Fuente stuff from there is suspect, not just Opus.

Damn, glad I never bought any opus from there. I had no idea it'd been going on for a while. If that's the case then they obviously know what they're doing and deserve their reputation to be ruined.

Kind of Explains why the Fuente faucet was cut off and suddenly no Fuente stuff for bid. They've been buying bands and slapping them on their own sticks for years.

Not to mention how much people were paying on CBid for all of those Opus! :gotcha:  There are some sssssssuckers out there!  It's almost like poetic justice that these people paid such crap, inflated prices for what sounds like are Honduran dogloafs - it matters immensely where you buy your cigars from.

I always wondered how a warehouse-stored Don Carlos Anniversario tasted....

Oh, it was bad, green "water spots" under the cedar. Poor construction, and exploded like a Gurkha....

You're comparing apples to oranges. Many Cubans are machine-made cigars. If you subtract them from the equation, you are left with cigars that average somewhere around $30.00 a stick (I'm just estimating.) That's not even counting the Cohiba Behike which retails for something like $800 a stick. Top Cuban cigars retail way above $30. And, when you factor in the fact that most Cubans are small, by American standards, the prices are even more outrageous. Going back to cigars that are allowed to be sold in the United States, the only cigars that come to mind (I'm sure there are others) are Fuente and Padron that would make your allegation correct. Most cigar smokers in this country cannot afford these cigars on a regular basis and, if I were to make a guess, I would say that the average price paid by a cigar smoker in this country is $5.00 a stick or less.
I'm not so young or impressionable anymore, but still younger than most of you old hags-LOL
