Thermoelectric wine fridge for cigars

Post by Bubbleheaddiver »

Have one, want to convert it for cigars. I have trays, i have been running it but when the temp drops the humidity also drops. I have around 4 lbs of beads in it. Should I add more beads?

What kind do u have? Thermoelectric or the other kind. One will will defrost on its own and make the temp and humidity drop. 4 lbs is a lot of beads.

There was someone here selling an insert for an avanti, not that long ago. Stabell & Associates can make a nice insert for you. It cuts down on the humidity spikes.

Did you plug the drain hole in the bottom?

Well what temp do you have it set at? I have 2 wynters and the highest they go is 65 and I keep them at that in the summer. I generally unplug them in the winter. Now when I plug them back in and they actually have to work a little, yes the humidity fluctuates....but that only lasts a couple days until I get the right amount of beads in there. Just trial and error a little as far as beads or kitty litter but they should hold tight.

You may want to look into a digital temperature controller.  These external units regulate the temperature and shut on and off as needed.  I have a Ranco ETC.
