baseball collectibles

Post by hombre »

Hey folks.  Anybody here into baseball collectibles.  I.e. cards and autographed fotos?  Have some old timer autographs (mantle, dimaggio, whitey ford hank Aaron and more) as well as star/rookie cards from 60 through mid 80s with bulk in early mid 80s.

I used to but then one day decided to sell them all. If ur loooking to get rid of them go ebay or craigslist. If u have the cash and need top dollar get ur valuables graded. Graded cards pull top dollar, other than that you'll get 35-40% of book value on most cards. If there in great condition and old like u said the right person wil pay 50-65% book value.

Graded cards are thee most sought after.

Yeah, I am ready to get rid of it.  The question is getting it graded or not.  Such a pain in the arse.

Might be worth the time for some of the high end stuff I guess.

Yeah u have to weigh ur options. Itll get costly to get them graded, and each place will charge for autographs and card grade. It gets time consuming also. Go to a reputable grading company, and contact them about a multiple card discount if ur going to sink ur money into it.

Return factor is you can get higher book values and get the attention of serious collectors, who might buy entire collections.

Good luck, let me know if ya need more info or help.

Then bring your money back here and buy a few nice cigars.

The only provenance more necessary than that of aged CC's, is that of sports memorabilia. Get em rated. It's a no brainer.

Just saw this episode a couple nights ago. It, like everything 60 Minutes does, was excellent. http://sports.sho.com/videos/1624
Be sure and make deposits in all areas of your life, because at some point you will need to make a withdraw. No deposits are more important than those made in relationships.

If you decide to sell on ebay, just be prepared to be shocked on that later stuff (esp the 80-90's stuff, it has almost no value, those were the boom years of baseball cards).

It's a good time to sell with the reemergence of the popularity.  Today's 1:1 cards are something else, but it's made collecting sets impossible.

I still collect autographed memorabilia that I can display, but particularly like getting them signed in person.  PM me if you have something unique.

Thanks fellas.  Some good stuff.  A goid example of price drop us the 84 donruss Mattingly.  Back in the 70s it went for 135 easy.  Now it looks like graded it is about $35.  Ugh

An '84 Mattingly that was sold in the 70s?  Is that the Upper Deck time traveler edition with the fancy hologram?
