They blame lack of oil for power generation. It sounds like their good friends in other communist countries are not supporting them with subsidized oil and cash.
I suspect that the government and individuals are mining bitcoin, as well as, the government is probably dipping their hands in power intensive AI technology.
Sad for the common people.

Never been but my sister used to go once a month for years (but she lived close on Grand Caymen island for just under 5 years).
They never stamped her passport either way.....
She said the same thing as Chef.... "a beautiful shithole."

Looks like Mexico just sent a huge shipment of oil to Cuba. But this situation is what has me on the fence about wanting to go back. I've been there a few times but wanted to go one last time to visit the Pinar Del Rio area of Cuba and be there first hand to see the production and growth of tobacco. I love the people, and the culture but man seems like a rough way to spend PTO.
Anyways, we shall see what happens.
Cheers.

I was there in April. It's really bad. We saw long lines outside each bank before they opened and food was in short supply, even for tourist.
The infrastructure is crumbling. Whole buildings along the Malecon looked like bombed out shells.

Power was out 3 days due to Hurricane Rafael in La Lisa and as much as 9 days in Playa, both Havana subdivisions. Was there this weekend, branches and garbage all over the place. Downed fruit trees. Restaurants and shops that had their food spoil just dumped it on the corner with the rest of the garbage. You could stir the stench with a fork. Scheduled power outages daily 4-6 hours. Many restaurants and stores did not have a lot of meat in stock because of the losses and fear they would lose it again. At least there is a cold front moving in the next few days. John

H22...the video spends about 2 seconds talking about Cuba, some about Haiti and Venezuela and the rest of the time talking about how great Trump is.
