Yeah, Fuente has been high on the smell of their own farts for a while. That's fine by me - let the lookie loos on Instagram have them. I enjoyed their sticks for a while, but between the pricing, false scarcity, and how poorly they treat their longtime supporters, I bought my last Fuente last fall. Plenty of fish in the sea.
Plus, my first Forbidden was a damned nightmare in the construction department - obviously rolled either by someone new, or someone who didn't care. Subsequent ones have been good, but there's no excuse for a $25 (now $35) cigar to be rolled catty wampus and missing some filler leaf.

I was lucky. At my shop, they were only allowing you to purchase one of each size, so I bought three.

It's interesting, I never gravitated to the Uber HTF Opus like the BBMF, Purple Rain, and the thousand other LE, Triple Band, fancy laquer boxes that have been produced over the years by Fuente. I rarely buy or grab a regular Opus X either. Their pricing on many high end sticks and LE/HTF cigars have gotten out of control
That being said, they have recently produced some limited production sticks that haven't been too pricey and some that are actually excellent values. I've been snagging boxes of 858 Sungrowns for less than $6 stick, 858 Rosados for $7-$8 per stick, when the Naked Kings were around, they were under $10. Add in The Casa Cuba Doble Dos and Divine Inspiration, both sub $10/stick and there are some cheaper alternatives that I readily enjoy.

Seconded on the 858 Sungrown and Rosado Sun Grown. Also loving the Hemingway Signature Naturals lately. Good deal on AF at Cigarplace.biz

858 Sungrown under $6 sounds nice. Are they a different blend than a Double Chateau Sungrown? Been digging them lately

I just sat with our Fuente/Newman rep Wednesday discussing a Fuente Dinner and some of the blends. I can tell you all the black foot banded sun grown are said to be the same blend. The Divine Inspiration is different from the othe Casa Cuba's. We used to be able to order whatever we wanted on 858 SG up until 2018, usually about 75 boxes a year. Now we are sent about 6 a year. We used to get 3 boxes of each size Anejo every year. Now 1 per size and an extra 77 Shark. They have chosen to make some limited which drives up the price.

Not sure about the different blends...Over the years, I have sampled just about everything Fuente has made...Except some of the crazy HTF/LE/etc...Not sure if all the Fuente Sungrowns are the same or if some are tweaked...For some reason, the 858 Sungrown just hits me the best. I love the size. My favorite cigars are 48 and under ring gauge vitolas so this at 47 RG is right in my wheelhouse. The length means it is a 90+ minute cigar for me. When found at MSRP or even below with online coupons or B&M specials, it is one of the best deals in the cigar world in my opinion.
