Dollar sign usage!

I can't take it anymore. How do people not know how to properly use the US dollar sign? I learned in high school how to properly annotate all types of foreign currency, it's not that hard! I get that many people here are not native English speakers, you all get a pass.
10$ doesn't equate to ten US dollars. $10 does.
If you're an American selling cigars for 10$, it just shows me how ignorant you are.
/rant.

Fun fact: I sometimes type irregardless to be daft, and autocorrect does NOT mark it as a misspelling or attempt to change it! We're doomed.

I don't know which came first, but there's the honest "I couldn't care less" as well as the sarcastic "I could care less." It's all in the delivery, which is a bit of an art alright.

To me, these show a level of dedication of the speaker. For example, "I couldn't care less about basketball." Honestly, I've tried to care less about it, but I can't -- I'm at the lowest amount of care there is for that sport. Now, if I said "I could care less about basketball." it means that there is room for my level of care to go down, but I just haven't done it yet. Maybe I'm saving it for a retirement hobby? Who knows!
I would put some more thought into it, but I could care less.

This thread literally peaked my curiosity and begs the question, "Why, for all intensive purposes, does this topic bemuse me?"
