I'm now at a point were I think I need a cabinet humidor for my office. With Staebell not making humidors anymore, any recommendations beyond the imports for sale everywhere. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

I was going to get an avallo about a year ago and when I got in touch with Matt at avallo he told me how long it would be but that he knew a better cabinet maker than him who uses avallo systems.

I went with his cabinet maker friend and couldn't be happier with the humidor. The avallo system is worth every penny.

If you don't have the time to wait in the event avallo is backed up, and he sends you to a guy in ohio, be careful. I went with the guy from Ohio and while the humidor is extremely nice and works perfectly the guy is a total unreliable douchebag. He wound up and took 4 months longer than he said. Then tried to make up all these stupid excuses.

But yes, the avallo is really nice. Although my unit was in need of calibration,i couldn't be happier with it's performance.

So you should have just waited and stayed with Matt. Yes he has been busy but only place I would go at this point. I have a 2000 and a 1200.

I think that the time would have been very similar as far as the wait goes. The cabinet is beautiful, made out of figured walnut and can't find anything wrong with it at all. In a way I am glad I went with his cabinet maker friend in ohio because it is a very well built piece, and I think I got it cheaper. He knocked 800$ off the price because I started sending him shitty text messages about contacting etsy about being refunded.

He literally gave me all these crazy excuses about a building collapse at his shop and the amishman who was making it had a severe mental breakdown and even something else I can't remember. I then told him that if he had all these new products coming out on etsy every week that I get notifications on then he should be managing his operation in a way that somebody takes over my project (that was supposed to be a 30 day turnaround) while the amishman deals with his problems. I also notified him that I had already contacted previous clients about his operation and they told me that he gave them the same bs and that they were super late.

I got my humidor for 2100$ and it must be 7 foot tall and close to 4 feet wide. I'll probably never fill it. And whoever actually built it is a very talented craftsman. Even though the guy I dealt with was a tool. Built to my plans too.

If I had to do it all over again I'd do the same thing. But I'd make it crystal clear that I need it on time.

Good luck to you. But definitely avallo inside.

I was looking at vigilant before I bought mine. Lots of added prices when you start playing with their options. In fact I got a couple of quotes from them and I would have ended up paying much more than what I paid. But I also took a chance. But I had the opportunity to check out their work too.

The guy who made mine used solid figured Walnut (3/4"thick too) and used Spanish cedar for everything that wasn't structural. Mahogany for the structural stuff. Vigilant uses veneers on their stuff. So does Matt at avallo.

I'm definitely not trying to toot the horn of the company who built mine, because I was absolutely pissed off by some things they did, but their quality is very good. And he delivered it right to my door. And it wasn't easy getting that thing in here.

I'm sure vigilant and avallo are great too. I bought my last cabinet secondhand and it was made with veneer over plywood. Wasn't bad looking at all but you can always tell that's how it's constructed if you know what you are looking for.

I bought a pre-owned Vigilant Display 1500, Traditional trim. Love it.
