Damaged Humidor Situation

Hello Guys.

I'm in a rather different situation. At the end of October our house caught fire. It wasn't a total loss and they're getting fairly close to completing their repairs. I've got a little more than a month before I can move back. It's been a real pain in the ass, and I lost my chocolate lab in the fire. That's the worst part of it. On the bright side, he was getting pretty old and his last days had been approaching quickly. But everything else is replaceable. And that's what I want to get some opinions on.

My humidor was as far from the fire as possible. But the smoke still was able to get into it a bit. In fact all of the boxes I had in the humidor had a light bit of film on it from the smoke. It's a large cabinet, solid mahogany, cedar lined with four shelves and a humidifier portion on the bottom. Two glass doors on the front and two wood doors on the bottom. It had a label somewhere on it that I think I removed, but I can't be sure of the brand. A pretty nice humidor imo and pretty heavy. No particle board with this guy.

When your home catches on fire there's a restoration company who takes all of your belongings to a warehouse in order to restore your stuff. Don't get me started on these freaking guys. But my humidor has been sitting in a huge wooden box since then. My humidor is like 7 foot tall and probably pushing 4 foot wide. And I spoke with the restoration guy who seems to be interested in cigars, and he said when it comes time to clean the humidor they are going to be using harsh chemicals. And I think I know what that means for the humidor? That's going to mean it's basically worthless correct?

My question is, there's a good possibility that insurance may be writing this off. Would you guys be able to help me with a value of this thing and point me in the direction of something a bit smaller? I don't want a jr cigars special recliner side humidor. Looking for a good quality unit.

Interested in any information you might have for a cleaning method too? Although if keeping my mouth shut is best I can appreciate that too.

Thanks guys.
