Does anyone have any experience with these devices?  Are they accurate and reliable? How are they on Android phones?  THinking about putting 1 or 2 in my cabinet, but i have played around with wireless humidity checking devices before, and they weren't very reliable.  These are around $20 each, and I wonder if you get what you pay for.... thanks for any commentary.

Todd, my recent experience with these has been a bit disappointing.  I bought 2 of them in early January and calibrated them as directed using the 75% Boveda that they include in the box.  After "calibration" (Boveda's terminology), one unit read 75% and the other read 77%.  So I politely contacted them by email and asked how to calibrate the unit that was reading 2% too high.  I received a snippy reply that attempted to school me:

(1) they stated that hygrometer technology is not an accurate science, and anybody (including Xikar) that claims so is lying
(2) that a +/-2.5% reading variance is acceptable to Boveda (even though their site claims "The only way to ensure your humidor readings are truly accurate is with a well-calibrated Boveda Butler" and
(3) and that there is no way to actually "calibrate" the unit, it just is what it is and you live with it.

Their own statements contradict themselves. Putting the units inside a bag to "calibrate" them is a joke since you can't actually calibrate or adjust the unit.  I do like the app, but since Boveda claims that a 5% swing is "acceptable", I'm just using these Butlers as a secondary source (with skepticism) that I can view without opening my cabinets.

Bruce--Thanks for taking the time to comment and provide a small review... I agree, a 5% swing is alot. They claim much better performance w/ their Boveda Packs. If the swing was more like +/-1%  that would be acceptable to me, but 5% is not.
I read mixed reviews online, but most were positive but no one talked about the actual RH readings, so your commentary has made my decision, and saved me $50...thx !

I use the SensorPush units and have found them to be easy to use, and you can calibrate them through the app. I bought the gateway as well, so I can check the sensors from anywhere with internet.

Same here....Great product. Push Notifications are fast. As soon as I open humidor it senses a change and lets me know. A+ product. The gateway is a nice addition.

I have one and it calibrated the unit at + or - 2.5%, so I went with it. Worked great for a few months and I can't get it to connect again. Cool idea but I'm not really thrilled about it either.

I’ve been using Xikar puro temp for years with no issue (other than battery changes of course).  A wifi option would be awesome, though not much I could do from 70-2000 miles away to fix any problems anyway haha

I’ve been using 2 Boveda butlers in my wineador for about a year now. You actually can go in and adjust them so that they read correctly to match the calibrated RH. Just need to go into the individual unit in the app and two edit.

Mine have been pretty good. I’d give it a 4/5 stars because it sometimes thing the battery is dead even though it’s fine.
