FYI, P*P* closed my account today.  ‘Twas a strange sequence of events.

Someone unknown to me sent me a payment a couple weeks ago.  I reported it to P*P*, and they informed me the other account was compromised and the payment was reversed.

Ensuring that no good deed goes unpunished, P*P* then limited my account.  Kind of understandable, really, they don’t know for sure my account wasn’t also compromised.

After two weeks of no action, I contacted P*P* today.  They said they’d review my account and send me an email upon conclusion.

The conclusion was, “We’re closing your account.”  With no explanation and no recourse, as per P*P* standard behavior.

I doubt they figured out anything as being tobacco-related with my account.  My guess is they didn’t like the volume of F&F payments (no revenue to them) and just decided it looked funny and not worth some perceived risk.

Just thought OLH should know.

I guess I will have to explore the other services like Google Pay, Apple Pay, etc.

I used Amazon pay years ago, but I notice they don't have a way to do direct person-to-person payments now.  There's been news on the wires in the last month about Amazon starting their own service to compete with Paypal, so maybe they've rolled back the old system now while the new service is being prepped.

We gonna have to go 90s - postal MO or personal checks from the Old Pros.

Although not as widely used or convenient as PP...Zelle is an efficient payment service.  I think most CHase, and Wells Fargo customers can use it for free.  I used it last week, and the payment was in my bank account in about an hour.  Supposedly, Ebay is going to switch to a new payment processor later this year.  I can see that change being a total nightmare...

Get Venmo, extremely easy to use and no fees.

Thats many other payment services out there.  Venmo, FBPay, Google Wallet... etc

FWIW, Venmo is owned by PP (95% sure) so its only time that they start cracking down on payments too.  I think PP regrets having a F&F option, as that gets abused for things like cigar purchases.  :angl:
