Northern NJ -- The Brick House/Wyckoff, NJ

I've been a regular here for many years. Just had dinner and drinks Saturday night in their cigar bar/lounge downstairs. I've never had anything but a very good meal, and a very good experience here -- from business lunches and dinners (upstairs, in the bar/lounge, or in the restaurant), to a drink, smoke, dinner, downstairs in the cigar bar/lounge. I've had family events there as well. All top notch in every respect.

My home and my office are nearby -- and I am grateful, LOL. There are a few spots in Northern NJ where you can smoke (and eat, drink, etc.) -- and this one by far is the best.

Check it out if you are ever in the neighborhood. Any other spots in Northern NJ? Let's hear 'em.

I also go to Sofia, in Englewood -- formerly known as Smoke. I had been going to Smoke since they opened, and when I lived in the area, I was a regular there. Smoke jumped the shark years before, but to be able to drink, eat, and smoke -- well, need I say more.

The place was sold, and the new owner has spent a great deal of money, modernizing, redecorating, updating, and so forth. I went to the grand opening and have been back numerous times -- having dinner or just drinks, in the cigar bar/lounge downstairs.

Nice spot, upscale, nice crowd. Food is good. I think the steaks are "good" -- not very good, not excellent. I prefer the River Palm (Edgewater) by far, which I think is the best steak place in Northern NJ, but, of course, you can't smoke there. LOL. I think the "Italian" food is also "good" but it's not my favorite Italian food in Northern NJ either. So, the novelty of smoking certainly is the hook for me.

If you are in or near Englewood -- at least stop by for a drink and a smoke.

Hearth & Tap...Montvale, NJ...it's OK. You can smoke! OK, then it's good. LOL. The former Porterhouse, it's been re-branded as a "gastropub" -- so, new menu, you can still smoke, and same ol same ol. The food is fair. Yes, I get the gastropub thing, and like I said, food is fair.

Go there to enjoy a smoke, and drinks. Enjoy.

I had dinner at Sofia recently. As much as I enjoy going for drinks and a cigars, I haven't been really enjoying the food as much. Of course the grand opening is where they put their best foot forward. The next 6 months, they were doing well, putting out some good food.

However, recently, it's been eh, so-so, and just OK. I'll go for drinks and to smoke, but I'd prefer to eat elsewhere in Englewood/Englewood Cliffs, NJ.

Hi Rich, I used to go to Jamie's all the time as well, as I was spending more time in that area. However, not as much these days. The Brick House is about 7 miles from my house, and I used to go there a few times a week -- and the food is very good. If I am in the area, I'll go to Sophia, or Hearth & Tap. Jamie's is a short trip down the Parkway for me. Is Louie still behind the bar?

Let's make plans to meet up at Jamie's one night. It's been too long. Looking forward to seeing you.

Eric
