What do you look for in a cigar lounge?

I have a friend who is considering opening a cigar lounge in a metropolitan area. What would you guys look for in a lounge, or what would you do differently than the current lounges around your area?

Thanks in advance.

Clean, spacious, nice seating, leather preferred, tv, drinks available, lockers for storage. Nice stogie and accessory availability. Knowledgeable staff.

All of the above. I'm also lucky that my local has an area that is for members only and that area can be accessed 24/7/365. If I want to go in a 2am to smoke a cigar, I can! It's probably the best feature of the place.

A good HVAC system that can keep up with the smoke at peak times.  I know this is pretty basic, but I've experienced cigar lounges that have substandard air circulation and it's no fun.

Definitely a good ventilation system, there's nothing worse than your eyes watering and burning due to smoke in your eyes. Comfortable seats, a couple TV's, a variety of cigars, lockers and a coffee machine, Drinks can be BYOB. Most importantly is a knowledgeable and welcoming staff. People at my local B&M go in not only for the sticks but to just sit and have great conversation with the owner. Best of luck to your buddy!

Good ventilation, first and foremost.  And quiet and effective too.

Then KNOWLEDGEABLE STAFF next.  A HUGE turn-off to a spot when a staff member doesn't know at least basic info.  I mean, not necessarily an enthusiast / smoker themselves (though it's a huge help), but they better know the basics.

All the rest is just luxury fluff - nice to have, but you "can't put lipstick on a gorilla" if the first and main two needs aren't met.

I couldn't agree more.  I could care less about all the other features, if I'm choking on smoke, I'm leaving.
