Precisely. Most Christians don't make a nuisance of themselves by knocking on my front door every few weeks to try and talk me into believing what they believe. But some do, and no amount of polite requests seems to get them to stop doing it.

And this is the crux of my flippant comparison: ISIL's blowing through a new town and declaring Sharia Law is somewhat akin to Evangelical/Jehovah's/LDS doorknockers actively trying to convince the world to convert to Evangelism/JW/LDS. There is obviously a HUGE difference in the degree of coercion, but the philosophy is essentially identical:

"We know the True Truth, you must agree with us or be wrong (and face the consequences) and we are basing our our actions entirely upon our personal understanding of an archaic collection of books of dubious authorship."
