Traded a buddy of mine some display cases for this humidor. It is made of solid oak. I found someone online that has solid Spanich Cedar in 1/8" thickness to line the inside with and 1/2" to replace the shelves with. I put weatherstripping behind the doors and in the seam between the doors. I have a Cigar Oasis Magna coming for it and bought 4 Spanish Cedar trays for singles. Anything else Im missing or any other advice anyone can lend?

Give it a good wipe down inside to eliminate any smells that might be in there.

Nice! I'd give it a nice dark staining if it were mine. But that's just so it would go well with my living room wall lol.

I'm hoping to be able to have the time to build my own humidor. I've got a  pretty decent sized cabinet now, but I want one built to my specs. I work for a school who has a huge wood shop and I'm going to take a course there and build a new one one of these days.

Post up the pics when she's all done. Should look the business.

Find unscented glue! And post a link to the 1/8" cedar if you can.

Just make sure there are no varnish or wood stain smells in there... if there are, it might be a good idea to shellac it and let it dry real good... that should seal the inside and all of those chemical fumes will go away once its sealed and totally dry.

I'm sure the previous poster did not mean for you to shellac the INSIDE of the humidor, as it seemed to read.

You'll get all kinds of advice, some good, mostly bad, but one thing to take VERY seriously is the dust from cutting/sanding Spanish Cedar. It is extremely toxic, and should be worked with in a well ventilated area, wearing a respirator (NOT one of those cute little white paper ones).

FWIW, Spanish Cedar is not cedar at all, nor even vaguely related. It is one of two types of mahogany.

Very nice! Make sure to take your time seasoning it. I had a similar project and for it was all about testing the seals. I too used weather stripping and I also used odorless plumbing caulking to seal up the light canisters in the top of my unit. When testing the seals I used the light test and canned air. Close one side and reach in from the other and see if light and air are getting through. If so add in small amounts of extra weather stripping where its needed. Over time the weather stripping will wear down and you'll need to replace it!
