My small humidor all of sudden went from being around 70-72 humidity level to now it reads 92. The temperature hasn't changed at all. The location is the same and the environment is the same in my home. I have re-calibrated the xikar hygrometer 2 days ago and it went right back to the same reading. Anyone have any idea what is going here and how to cure this problem?

If your macro and micro environments have not changed, then try using another hygrometer.

I've bought and returned 2 xikar hygrometers. I've seen them read 115% rh and 145 degrees. IMO western digital are much more reliable as far as affordable hygrometers go.

Otherwise, have you recently added new smokes to the humi? I've had small rh spikes after adding smokes that were overhumidified by the vendor.

Have you removed the hygrometer from the humi and set it in the room? How does your room environment check out?

If you re-calibrated the hygrometer and nothing has changed. I would return it.

I have bought new smokes recently but they never done this before from that vendor. The hygrometer just sitting out in my house reads 82-89%. Thanks for the help everyone. I will most likely be returning this Xikar.

Unless it's been very rainy for the last few days and you haven't been using any heating or air conditioning, I'd say your hygrometer is poop.

EDIT: I don't know where you are located, but 82-89% RH ambient is rather high.  Has it been raining?  What humidification system are you using?

I agree with this. I've had issues with a few Xikar hygrometers in the past. I like the Western Digital Caliber IV.
