I'm assuming I need to bring my own.  I can imagine hoards of fake cubans.  So, should I plan to pack a stash?

Since St. Thomas is part of the USVI, Cuban cigars cannot legally be sold there.  Bring your own!

Note - when you [u]LEAVE[/u] St. Thomas, you will have to pass through US customs.  I usually unband my sticks for the journey.

It's best to bring your own.

Here now, and very happy I brought my own, haven't seen any stores so far.

Enjoy - it's my favorite destination. If shopping is on the itinerary, choose a day when no cruise ships are in.  Fewer stores will be open, but those that are will be super aggressive with their pricing.

If you have the opportunity to dine at Havana Blue at the Marriott, a sunset reservation is highly recommended. It's spendy, but unparalleled.

Cigars: no legal Cubans to be had there

Gorgeous part of the world. Was just there a few months ago. I miss it already.

Unless it's an LCDH(which there are none there), don't bother. Resist the urge to buy anything cigar related. It's expensive and likely not genuine. We are spoiled here on OLH. I'm thankful for that! :bigup:

It is certainly beautiful and very glad I brought a stash with me.  What about St John?  -  is there a LCDH? - customs on the boat ride back?

Dunno for sure. Cruisecritic.com has great info on buying CC's. But IF you are going to bring CC's back to the US, a cruise is the best way. They are more concerned about alcohol. Take a backpack. Buy a bottle and when you are boarding back onto the ship and going through the scanner get out your bottle to turn it in and they will never question what else is in your backpack. I have purchased at least half dozen times at the LCDH in Puerta Vallarta(pre OLH) and never once had an issue. But again, why bother. Better prices, reputation and peace of mind right here at home.

There is certainly a lure to wanting to by a CC in a foreign country and bring it home. :)

Thanks for the info, and I totally agree - OLH or a trusted vendor who ships the the way to go, more concerned about if I run out!  That would be a disaster!
