The unmitigated gall of TSA

So I'm going through the line at TYS yesterday and I notice this series of signs all along the maze.  Pictures of people in military uniform and then in TSA uniform with the caption underneath "Still Serving"

I saw the first one and thought it was maybe some guy local since the airport does share the runways with a TN air national guard refueling squadron, then I realized there were like a dozen of these things and some of the uniform pics were obviously older and it hit me...  TSA is making the statement that military service is analogous to TSA.  !WTF!  :finger:  gimmeafukinbreak! Standing around an airport feeling up girls and taking away people's 3.4oz toothpaste is in no way shape or form even in the same f'ing universe as military service.  I served, I spent 6 yrs in Uncles yacht club and I'll be damned if TSA has the right to compare themselves to us.  That's bullshit!

I'll guarantee you that some life long government employee with not a minute of military service came up with that genius idea...  Lets glorify this bunch of idiot smurfs.. All this I thought as I watched the line for security grow all the way to the front door of the airport, at which point one of TSA's finest started leisurely getting the 3rd security ready to open (never actually saw it operate in the 20 minutes I stood in line and I got there when the line was 1/3 what it was when I got through)

Hey Janet Napolitano, NO HOW, NO WAY NOT EVER, IS A TSA JOB IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM EVEN IN THE SAME UNIVERSE WITH MILITARY SERVICE, ant to even begin to go down that road, much less put those stupid signs up shows just how little you know.  [/rant]

Why stop at toothpaste removers? The overweight, slovenly men and women who proudly guard our nation's food courts and Lane Bryant stores deserve our thanks too!

:cheers:

Yeah they surely averted national disaster when they took that sealed red bull out of my bag  (and drank it once they thought I was gone).

  TSA is an absolute joke.  Comparing them to the military is like comparing a kid with a squirt gun to a firefighter.

  Wait till they try to tell you - after you've cleared security - that they want to test your drink that you bought from the vendor who sells things AFTER security.  Happened to me once and I threw the drink in the trash and told them to have at it.

  Most people don't realize that they have no authority except when going through security.  I'm waiting for the day they try to stop me on a commuter train or when driving my car somewhere.

TSA = Thousand Standing Around

Over here I get the ones that don't speak english as their native tongue and they look me up and down like I have ulterior motives. They just got their citizenship by passing a frickin test.

What's next mall cops? As if there wasn't enough reason to hate the TSA as it is. And why thank them for jack shit? The military protects us and they what? Fail at doing anything rational. The TSA are merely an illusion of security and safety, they don't do a fucking thing.

The TSA has an ongoing campaign to hire vet's and reservists.  A large percentage of their employees are in one of those categories currently, and evidently they are striving to obtain more.  Maybe it's an effort by them to suck less.

Was on the news yesterday that  a TSA agent gets a bigger clothing allowance than a Marine LT.

I personally know 2 TSA employees. Both are veterans. I'm not.

Yea, military officers get NO uniform allowance at all.  TSA does (as do enlisted military).

Comparing TSA to active service military or even National Guard/Coast Guard is ridiculous.  Must just be a PR campaign.
