Diesel - Can't find the mailbox or the reply button

Post by Cakebread »

I wanted to buy some pipe tobacco to surprise someone and was delighted to find it here: http://www.onlinehumidor.com/forum/index.php?topic=11617.msg61709#msg61709

I PMed the seller, he responded promptly and I bought two tins to be shipped directly to my buddy. I electronically sent him the $24 and upon getting it he responded that he forgot to mention that shipping wasn't included and asked for another $6. This was annoying, but I did it. This was all last Monday. I did not hear anything for a week and Thursday or Friday I asked him for an update. On Saturday I get a response that appears to be canned and full of BS:
Hello sir,

had my lady send out boxes last week.  I know all didnt go out, but I will provide more info when I get home tonigth or tomorrow morn. I know post offices were closed on friday.

-Ron
Since then, despite a couple PMs I've heard nothing. He has been online and he has been reading and responding to PMs, but not mine. Its not a lot of money and its not even that long since I bought the items in the scheme of things. His blatant disregard for my PMs and terrible selling acumen, however, is more than worthy of being called out here.

Here are some more fun facts:

I have aslo had some miscommunication on a deal I have pending with him. Again not huge dollar amounts but a little communication goes a long way! When i questioned him about the status of my cigars I got pretty much the exact same response, then nothing for almost a week now!

I made an inquiry as well on his PSD4s he had listed as (07s)....his reply to me when I asked for boxcode was that they were from on 08 box, and that's it.

I asked if he then thought it might be a good idea to update his thread to reflect the appropriate year of the cigars he was selling. No PM back, and no thread update. Thread still showed 07s last i'd checked.

Sorry you all are having issues....and it can't be said enough...communication is key.

He's been around the forums for 4+ years that I know of and has plenty of trade feedback on BOTL, but not much lately.  His sale was brought up among some people and a few BOTLs definitely vouched for him including ones that have purchased from him during this sale.  It was discussed that there is definitely a lack of communication, but you will get what you paid for.

And before someone jumps down my throat, a lack of communication is not acceptable to me nor do I know him personally to vouch for him.  I'm not making any excuses, just saying he is a known BOTL and not some fly by night scammer.

I dont feel that he has taken the money and ran, but the lack of communication when you have multiple deals is just plain unacceptable. If he has been around for so long then he should know that!

I have 3 e-mails from Ron Nov 7&8 and confirmation of R&J Short Churchills shipped Nov 8. It did take him a day to get back to me. Not everyone is on here every day.

CB
Great coffee, cigars and whiskey. Love them all.

I also bought and paid($240) for a bunch of stuff from him last Thursday and they haven't shipped either. I asked him about it monday and he said he had to get some packaging materials and they would be sent and he didn't realize I was in a big hurry for the items. Anybody I know wants there stuff shipped once its paid for or we would not buy it. He also told me he was gone with the family all weekend, not sure if anyone else heard this or not. I hope he makes this right with all of us.
