OK question for you... and it is not a genius one either. Folks love fake stuff. LV, Lacoste, Lauren etc. The pitch here is "these taste just like the real deal at a half or 2/3 of the price (or whatever)", is it not? You guys just know better because you are knowledgeable experts.[/quote]
That's likely a combination of:
a) Wishful thinking
b) Not knowing what the real deal tastes like
It's dangerous because who knows what is in these cigars; Phil has mentioned he's seen beetle droppings all over the place in the cigars, so the tobacco likely was not fumigated properly.
Also, charging extraordinarily high prices for fake product is just not acceptable. That picture from Phil (I'm hoping he takes another one at a higher resolution, with better lighting) gives you an idea of how widespread the problem is.
I'm guessing TL sold tens of thousands of dollars worth of these fake cigars... and I'm betting he is still selling them, as are others. It's very likely an organized racket.
And LOL @ the TL Edmundo Dante 109 picture... no need for arrows on that one! :)
There were an awful lot of people on board lending their support to this guy, which exposes everyone else to the danger by lending him credibility.
If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. If you don't know what a cigar you're buying should taste/look like, don't buy it.
