Sources used to be highly protected. It was not until you were in the cigar community for years that sources were shared. Now source info just posted on open forums all over the internet. There is a correlation to up tick in seizures and the info being out there and easily found.

Yup - and people in the FB groups and elsewhere wonder why us old guys don't share sources that we have cultivated over many years and which would be at serious risk if shared openly...

So I had something new happen.

I've been tracking an inbound package and it went through customs and then it sat there for a few days and finally they released it.

It hit the Post office in the city where it arrived and then two days later it arrived at my Regional Distribution Postal office.  Then it stopped again.  I called the USPS and inquired about the package since it's been over a week and they told me that customs has placed a hold on the package and that is why it has not moved because it is being held for inspection by customs.

I have never seen this happen where it clears customs in one city and then they hold it in another city after they already clear it at entry.  Anyone have this happen before?

I'll keep you all posted on this one.  I have heard though from my sender that there is a lot of delays and stuff being held for abnormal times currently because of all the on again off again tariff situation.  Seems customs is looking at packages closer and in some cases just not processing packages for days as they wait to figure out how to implement or simply waiting so they don't have to implement any tarriffs due.  Pretty nuts.

Dan, I’m glad that your box arrived safely.  This was the same scenario that I had last year with a box of Medaille d’Or Especial.  It went through customs then USPS opened, held for a few weeks then sent it to me.  It had a letter from USPS in it and it wasn’t the dreaded confiscation letter.
I remember discussing it with Mike (mbflash) and neither of us had ever heard of this situation until now.

Dan, I was afraid that I might lost my Global Entry status over this but over a year later and haven’t heard anything more.

For years, my wife and I always got pulled aside in customs for a search.  One time she got pulled into a backroom before boarding in the Dominican before we departed back to the US.  My bag got checked under her name, and it had my travel humidor.  They asked her to open it, and she had no idea how to undue to latches.  She was all freaked out.  She always blamed it on the letters.  Turns out when we got searched coming back from Cuba, my wife asked  why we always get searched and the customs guy said I am not supposed to say anything, but he divulged that her passport number matched the number of a flagged Venezuelan passport.  He had no problem with the boxes of cigar, bundles of customs, and bottles of rum which I declared.

I still have that one box that got stopped at my regional postal office after it initially cleared customs in the port of entry.  I think that it may get sent back.  I had 5 parcel in total that were travelling through on their way to me.

All 4 of the 5 parcels that arrived safely had been open and inspected by Customs!!  All arrived with the decorative, yet festive, "Inspected by US Customs and Border Protections" vomit green tape.  If I lose this one pending box (10ct box) I will be pretty lucky cause all the others had some higher cost boxes or multiple 10 ct boxes.  I spoke to my vendor about it and we are just waiting to see what happens with this one box.

All this said, I think I've had enough of my heart pressure drop at the sight of green tape for a while, so I don't think I'm going to order overseas for a bit.

I don't have global entry, lol.  I'm afraid of rejection lol.

Cheers everyone.

Anyone having issues with packages from private sellers? I.E. Bond Roberts purchases?  I have never bought through that site but with lack of vendors shipping here at the moment, it might be the only way to buy stock?
