And looks like the markets are well on their way. Dow back up over 28,500, not too far off of it's all time high of 29,551 back in February. We'll be just fine. Yeah, I don't recall much change whatsoever going from Clinton to Bush, Bush to Obama, and Obama to Trump.

Even when Bush put tighter limits on anything from Cuba back in the early 00's, I don't remember anything drastically changing. People just bitching, that's about it.

Wait - you guys have exactly one metric for how well things are going and that is the stock market index?

I don't know about you but I certainly don't remember seeing this many people demonstrating in the streets over various things, so many poor and homeless people, and such a huge and increasing discrepancy between the haves and the have nots, just to name some examples. I would say things sure have changed in the last 20 years. Sure, personally I have done OK but there are a great many that have not.

I'd bet that when Chef wins his haircut bet, Perfecto won't follow through with the bet and actually cut his hair off...  Anyone actually think he would??

I don't think he will take the bet since he responded to multiple others and ignored mine.
Easy to talk shit when $45 in cigars are at stake.  Put this mans handsome hairdo out to pasture and its crickets

Odd because homelessness has been on a yearly decline since 2007. I think the homelessness we all see so much of on the television in some areas where people don't take care of their districts. It's still a problem, but I suppose that as long as people are allowed to shit and shoot up dope in the streets without any kind of consequences why would it get better?

As for the people protesting in the streets, that's another topic.

My deferred comp is up over $130K since Trump came into office.  This year alone + 8.25%.   Most people vote with their pocket books.   Always have, always will......

Oh, so now you want to talk about the paid rioters? Yeah, I said it. They are paid to riot. In Dallas, there were pallets of bricks dropped on "protest" routes....don't think it was just a coincidence since absolutely NO construction was happening in a 5 block radius.  People are being paid to demonstrate. Gimme a break.

Way more than one metric. Overall, everyone I know is way better off now than they were 4 years ago. Wages are up, unemployment is falling back down to pre-plandemic levels, and if you just get out and TALK to your neighbors, you'll find most folks are doing just fine and there is NOT the division the media claims.

Equating market gains to which party is in office has absolutely zero basis in reality...its been well documented there is literally no correlation that can be made between equity market performance and white house occupancy.

What most people crying for the abolishment of the EC don't seem to understand is 1) it can be accomplished by Constitutional Amendment for which there are two methods, and 2) there isn't a single national election in America that determines the winner by popular vote. As a matter of fact, the only national election is the Presidential one and it has been, since the inception, been done by EC. If you want to change it, do so via the Amendment process. Hell, we banned alcohol here by an Amendment! If you can't convince people the EC isn't right, seems like your argument is pretty poor.

Well, I took a significant hit in Trump's so-called tax cut for the middle class - purposely designed to hit the coastal states. I am voting with my pocket book as well ;)

OK, buddy - keep that tinfoil hat nice and tight. I really can't argue with alternative facts.

I can only speak from what I see - but until Covid hit I traveled extensively for work so I didn't just see NorCal.
