Okay, I am willing to call PP and ask a generic question about buying/selling cigars.  Depending on what they say, I can continue and explain that several of us wanted to buy a specific box of cigars from an individual, who in fact sold the same box to us for the same price and did not ship to any of us, and that he specifically requested payment via PP F&F.

But before doing this those that got scammed need to give me a thumbs up in the event we do end up having our accounts suspended.

I'm still curious about the perp.  Apparently due to factors in the past and present, the majority consensus seems to be that SmokingCeeGars himself was probably not the perp, but the victim of a hack.  Curious why he hasn't shown up, though.

I have no dog in this hunt and I am sorry to those who got scammed.

I have not received any response with respect to my email from last night to the original "smokinceegars"... I know his communications in th epast have been spotty or days apart, so nothing shocking to me there.

One thing does surprise me here--several people mentioning dealing with Paulie Rusche in the past but willingly sent PP payment to someone using a totally different name in the email address.  That personally would have raised a red flag for me.  Hard to believe that scoring a box of BTO boxcode Cohibas, takes precedence over verifying that the deal is legit, or seller is not pulling something.

Was the Smokinceegars impersonator telling people he was Paulie but using a friends PP account?  I read through the thread but didn't see anyone elaborate on what was said during the PMs to finalize any deals with the impersonator.  I am wondering what sort of stories were being told to bait people in, or generate confidence in the sale. 

Well, I fell for the Hamlets. I knew the name from posts here, read the feedback, asked him a couple of questions about how they were smoking and provenance, all of which were answered within a reasonable window. Gave the same explanation about sons busy schedule with ballgames and all seemed legit.

I've done many deals here where the PP addy was different from the posters name, so not knowing Paulie, it raised no flag for me.

i'm really hurting over this one. Hate getting burned for shit.

The paypal address was the same one I used for "Paulie" in early June and received my cigars. Not sure if he was hacked as far back as that, or the hacker hacked his paypal, or who knows. Confusing as shit.

I took the pipe on the Siglo VI. It sounds as if we are talking about over $6g's here. That's too much to just let it slide and take as a lesson learned.
