More likely trying to get an outrageous mark-up...someone just might bite.

Combination of both...IMO. Posting absurd prices gives some folks the idea that the cigars might be worth it, and the even less intelligent are SURE they are worth it and buy some. I am sure that the vast majority never get sold, whether the seller posts "sold" or not. Proof, to me, of this, is the fact that the exact same boxes of cigars are posted for sale, by the same  poster, a few months to a year later. There are three in particular, all buddies from another board, who try to pull this pretty regularly :)

Seems like the majority of sticks posted on here are overpriced. Just because a cigar is aged or HTF doesn't make it automatically triple in value. And for anyone to pay the high prices are DUMB.

I've had a guy in here wanted to charge me $75 for 2 cigars that were junk and a Brex, really? I've smoked a Brex and thought it was awesome but it's still not worth the $50 price tag.

Price gouging is sad and not what the brotherhood is about, your supposed to help out your friends not rip them off.

A couple of the folks who have made their way here from reddit are decent contributors, and some are....not.

This is the attitude that gets me. Just because two people smoke cigars and have found this online marketplace does not make them friends, or part of a brotherhood.

People think that just because they join an online forum they're entitled to other folks' things at a discount. That's just silly.

You become part of a brotherhood over time by contributing to a community. A user name and a password does not a brother or friend make.

I'm not looking for any discount. What I am saying is just because you got a box of cigars and aged them for 4 years doesn't make them worth anymore. Also, if you were lucky enough to get some of these HTF cigars when they were released, doesn't now make them worth triple the price now.

...to you. Which is fine.

I personally will gladly pay more for the right aged cigars because they taste better, and to me a better cigar is worth more money. Others pay higher amounts to obtain rare or HTF sticks because they didn't or couldn't do the work necessarily to obtain them at release.

That doesn't make the buyer or the seller "dumb." Markups for rare or aged stuff is normal and par for the course over all hobbies.

Look, I'm not advocating for insane markups from scalpers ...but I am advocating for a free market and for not playing the "brotherhood" card all the time as if having a user name entitles to one to someone else's things at a lower-than-market price.
