I'm going to weigh in here just a little.

Yes, I think I made it pretty clear that I was tired of some of the stuff in the shout.  Yes, some folks didn't take me seriously, and yes there were some suspensions. (some longer than others depending on the number of past offenses)

Maybe someone sending a PM could have calmed thing down, and maybe I'll pick the right 6 numbers Friday.

I'm not a fan of "rats" myself; however, this site operates on the principle that the users contact me if there are violations.  I open the TSBC about once a quarter.  Seriously, I almost never look.  People posting in violation of the rules always get reported.  Without it this place doesn't work, because I don't have time to be the hall monitor.

This is your website, sure, I make the rules, but the rules I make are to make it work for me as the one man show, and for you the folks to provide the forum that we have to allow the trade and discussion that happens here.  If it was just me it would be pretty boring.

Yes, we're all grownups, but that doesn't mean that all of us are comfortable or want to see profanity laced insults every time we open the site.  In truth I think that's more like adolescents that have discovered some new words than adults.

If someone thinks that there are things going on here that are wrong for the site then they have every right to come to me. Hell, I want them to.   There are lots of times when people have complained to me of things here in the BZ and I just quote the forum description to them.

For the record, I was Navy [MM1(SS)], I served in the engine rooms of fast attack subs for 4 of my 6 yrs.  I can and have violated every boundary of acceptable behavior you can imagine, and some that you can't.  (some of those stories require lots of alcohol)  The main page of the forums is no more the place to have a profanity laced discussion  than the lobby of an office building, or the entrance to your favorite restaurant.

I don't know what was "grabbed" and reported to Wade, but seems to me if you can't handle the ramifications of what you post, don't post it.  Have the balls to own it if someone does alert the powers that be and quit blaming someone else for what you type and then click that "Post" button.  Seems pretty simple to me.
[/quote]that wasn't realy my point. My pint is, why rat?

If I decide I don't like someone, or their views, or whatever. Should I rat on them? There are allot of things that are traded, sold, and bartered for that could cause someone allot of trouble if they were ratted out to the proper channels. Ratting is not an acceptable way to get things done its how cowards do things.

I obviously touched a nerve in the shout box, and the coward rat didn't like my views the way I saw things. So the coward decided instead to tell on me instead of confronting me, or a simple PM. I have no real beef with anyone here, nor do I hold any grudge against anyone. Not even the rat. I was just curious to see if the rat was man enough to show up, and man up. ( I know it's a male because King Cohiba stated that he was in contact with the rat but would not give up his name, and he also thought it was funny)

I see it like this. With recent threads and history of whom this thread is about, your guess is a wide range of suspects.
I'll be it a rat is low, but again, re-read above.

This thread needs to be locked. Drop it. End it. Move on.

At the request of kombat, it is locked, and won't be opened unless someone request it to be opened.

There is a Tautog plaque on my wall.  I was assigned to the Tutaug for a while in '86.  Yes, I was an ELT, off of the Cavalla (SSN684).  The Tautaug was going into the floating drydock in Pearl for a resin discharge and for a combination of reasons lost all but one of her qualified ELTs.  Another first class ELT and I off of the Cavalla were sent over  on a kind of emergency TAD.  The other guy went back, but I ended up staying for a while and did some local ops with them.  I liked it better on the Tautaug and in fact had a meeting in the COs quarters with the Eng and X and the RL Div Officer to decide if they wanted to try to keep me.

In the end I went back to Cavalla for a while, then as things go I ended up on the LA (688) later that yr for my last WestPac.
