While the FS thread was pretty cut and dry, if this is the kind of thing you are looking for, and wanted more detail, I am sure a PM to the seller would have got the job done. Since this was way out of my league, I saw no need to post a thread slamming the seller for "lack of detail."
The TL thing was a true learning experience for me. But I will not live by "fake until proven real." When interested, I will ask kindly for pics, box codes, etc etc. If it doen't look or feel right, then I don't buy. Just like TL, I never bought even after he sent me a stick, because something didn't add up.
My latest purchase everything I asked was provided since some of the info I was looking for was not in the post. Sale went flawless and the smokes are stellar.

Thanks for the offer, but I am at the beach most weekends in the summer. If you are ever around Del/MD, let me know.

FG, I will be in Maryland next Saturday and Delaware on Sunday/Monday. Which works best for you? We should definitely get together.

It seems odd, when was posting private messages okayed. I thought we called them private messages for a reason. I thought the etiquette was to keep them private and not quote them?
I would hate to think that someone would post my pms.
That said I don't think name calling is need.
But to the real point. Calling out sellers and ignoring sellers.
I would buy from Sandman I have been on the cigar forums going on 4 + years. I have sandman here for that long and has always appeared to be a straight shooter. So I do my homework and take the chance - nothing is ever 100 % but you have to do your homework and try to know who to trust.
As for calling people out I see sales here everyday on cigars I want (or need) and I pass on them. Why? I don't know the seller, I don't like the price, or I am not educated enough on the cigar to make sure I am getting a authentic item at a proper price. Do I call them out no! I let the seller and their buyers work it out themselves. It not my duty to call people out unless I am more then 98 % sure.
I know we are all on edge due to all the fugazi issues heck I almost got suck in on the O'Reilly TL was selling but I did not know the seller well enough to go on trust and did not know the item well enough to not need to trust.
Sorry after 3 years I figured I should try to get my post count up.

Perhaps you could ask Emily Post about that. ;D
Personally, I don't expect anything that is not on a secure, encrypted connection to actually be kept "private".

Especially if that PM is insulting. Name-calling via pm is expected to be kept private? Why? Because the offender had the respect to 'keep it just between the two of you?' Just not enough respect to leave you alone?
Sorry. If you're going to reduce communication of any kind to insults and expletives(and I've been guilty of it before, certain I will be again), you damned well better expect to get that dirty laundry aired for all to see. If people would simply treat others how they'd like to be treated, this wouldn't even be an issue in the first place. Besides, people who continually post that kind of vitriol usually don't have much in the way of self-respect in the first place. That kind of crap is simply done to make yourself feel better at the expense of others. Didn't most of us stop doing that sort of thing by the time we were 15 years old, anyway???

Hello from cottage country!
Smoked some fabulous cigars this weekend, drank incredible single malt, ate well and hope you did too.
Final take on the scrap earlier and perhaps in the future for any other unfortunate soul who this may happen to. Read some deep dialogue where many players involved here discussed a past case involving Dunhill CC's that were fake. It was transferred from one board to another and went on for pages and pages. Knowledge was impressive and to watch and learn was similar to to the TL case here. Educational! It was a pleasure to read but the result was the same. Swearing, name calling and the topic de-railed.
I just like smoking, buying and trading cigars. 75% of the cigars in my collection were bought here. Join me on Twitter or Facebook every day and we can talk in person.
Wade is not only here for us and our cigars. He is looking for coffee customers. Swearing and bullying at fellow members is not helping him.
Back to our regular programming...

Are you saying unpleasant things shouldn't be discussed because it discourages people from buying things from Wade?

Not at all. Discuss anything you want. But attacking a fellow member, calling them a fucking moron etc, may not build a climate that brings in new members or make folks want to visit.
