Love the p229 and if you run out of ammo you can hit them with it, weighs a ton.

In the process of converting pretty much completely to 9mm, I've settled on the Browning HiPower, partially because I agree with Wades thoughts about John Browning. It's not my only full size auto, but it sure is sweet.

As to CC, or back up, I carried a PPK for a long time, but now use a Sig 938 (that 99mm thing). It's a little thicker, but smaller in every other dimension. The shorter barrel hasn't detracted from accuracy...at least not at the range I'm interested in :)

You'll find some weapons to be natural pointers for you if you don't try to force it. For me it's most of the Barettas, with the Glocks at the opposite end of the scale.

The only other tidbit I have for you, is that once you arrive at your choice, become intimately familiar with it. Practice with it as often as is feasible, and THOUROUGHLY clean it immediately after every use. Unless, of course, it's in the police property room :)
