Wow. I am not sure what to make of this thread... TL comparisons, but such cryptic messages...

We all know of the communication issues with Dallas. John, are you saying he purposely misrepresents his products? As someone who has been satisfied with both parties on numerous occasions, I am intrigued to see where this is going.

While he's at it he can come clean on the provenance of his own, but will most likely just engage in very vague conversation.

If anyone sent john an email because your "pissed off", sack up, and put it out here.

That's really all that matters!  Otherwise pretty much he said she said deal.  Saying this public was bad form imho.

Were John to do that he would run the risk of his rollers/suppliers getting into serious trouble. By necessity John must be discreet. That is a large part of John's issue with Dallas, if I understand his comments correctly.

The question that needs to be answered directly (instead of the vague innuendos) is whether or not John is accusing Dallas of supplying fakes.

Any comparison to TL is exactly that.  An accusation of selling fakes.

You don't like the way he runs his buys or how open he is with the provenance that's one thing.  Comparing him to TL is an entirely different thing.

Stop making vague implications and say what you are going to say.  And frankly the fact that you've heard "1000" mostly negative things about a person who amounts to a competitor needs some back up.  Either be willing to cite your sources or don't make the post to begin with.

(Full disclosure:  Dallas and I have smoked together a few times.)

Maybe it's just the type of person I am or maybe it's my line of work but the one thing I never understood the five or so years I've been on various cigar forums is the constant vague innuendos and rumors.  If you have something to say, then say it.  To the mans face if possible, if not then at least be clear about what you are saying.

I mentioned to Hutch via PM one time that I had a tremendous amount of respect for him because he said what everyone in the "inner circle" already knew about TL.  The problem was that no one else would say it.  If it wasn't for Hutch I would still have several thousand in high end fakes sitting in my humidors.

If you know something then say it... or don't.  But to make vague implications does no one any good, not the buyer(s) who might be getting screwed or the man whose reputation you are working at destroying.  If someone is actively scamming the cigar community then it needs to come out.

Very nicely said, Trent. It more or less echoes my thoughts as well. I'd love to see someone step forward and say "I was one of the people who contacted John regarding my issues with Dallas." I am not holding my breath.

I've got a strange feeling we've heard the last from John concerning the drama he chose to create.  I want to be clear that I think it's ridiculous for anyone to have contacted him if they were the least bit dissatisfied with their purchase from Dallas.

We've seen some gripes about lengthy delays, lack of timely responses at times to emails, being shorted on orders, but let's hear a single complaint about the cigars you've received.
