I got sold fake Montecristo Sublimes, and was asked by the seller

Here is a pic from the cubancigarwebsite, these are reportedly real. Lot's of pics on their website of the box, bands, etc. Anyways, the Monte Sublimes (2008 EL) obviously use the new darker, slightly embossed band. The darker band has supposely been in use since 2006, when they stopped using the lighter brown band without any embossing.

I took the original picture link down, because a member here had issues with how I posted it and accused me of stealing someone's picture, even though it was linked in from their website (which is permitted according to their own published copyright laws):

These look alot more like the one in the first pic in this thread in the middle (the one that is supposedly real, that Mike got from a friend who smokes Sublimes regularly).

I have a box of these.  They use the darker, embossed band on them.  If pictures are needed, I will post tonight.

We are talking about an insanely popular cigar, so not surprised that they would be faked.  For this reason I don't buy Cohibas.  Maybe I am being paranoid, but so be it.

The majority, if not all, of the people posting on this thread have used the "HK friend."  I actually smoked a cigar from a box of RASS last night from said friend, no question in my mind they are legit.

But given the grey market, as T said, a box can slip its way into the system.



HOWEVER, I have HUGE issue with these cigars being resold.  EVEN IF THEY ARE ADVERTISED as fakes.  Who says some scumbag doesn't pick them up on the cheap and try to pawn them off somewhere else as real???

OP you were sold a complete box.  If you want the court de battle zone to pronounce fake or not you need to provide pictures of the box, seals, stamps and better pictures of the bands (straight on, no angles, natural light without flash).

You may think the lighter band and taste are enough but taste is subjective.  At this point you really only have a legit, albeit earlier band on a 2008 cigar.


I also have a huge problem with reselling them IF they are fake (not submitting they are at this point).



To the seller: Are you saying you would not refund the partial sale price of the remaining cigars?

I am not new to cigars, or Cuban cigars, just this particular one.  I believe I am correct in that these are fakes.

I'm sorry that a trusted vendor of yours sold these to you, that sucks, and is disconcerting.

I feel I already did enough to earn a refund, you disagree.  This issue between us is done, keep the money.

When I get the cigars, I will sell them as what I believe they are, and it will be completely over.

I do not have 6 of the cigars back yet.

Again, I will sell them as what I believe they are...no chance of someone being fooled.

All of the pics you guys would like to see will be provided in the for sale thread.

I see no problem in selling them.  If they are fake, the buyer will be getting what he paid for.  If I'm wrong, and I guess there must be an outside chance of this since I'm not getting refunded, the buyer will get more than than he paid for.

I will make certain no one gets fooled, promise.
