Wow. Once again the TATUAJE drama. Sure it could have been another brand, but all the drama I ever see is about these way overpriced crappy kool-aid cigars. It is a shame that someone could possibly lose a friend and have someone question his integrity over kool-aid. Best wishes.

Personally, I would never sell a gifted cigar, and would consider it very poor etiquette should anyone else do so. However, I have "re-gifted" a couple of gifted HTF cigars in the past and had no problem with that. I was gifted duplicates of some "once in a lifetime" sticks and wanted to share the good fortune.
Just my .02 cents fwiw,
Badfish

Jesus dude, bitter much? The bulk of your posts seem to relate back to your personal disdain for Tatuaje as a brand. You come across as someone who is bitter at the fact that you can't participate to the degree that others can. I suspect that this primarily due to a lack of financial resources on your part, so you take the easy, cop-out way of bashing the brand and chalking things up to "drama" and "kool-aid". That's the typical proletariat response. You lack the monetary means to enjoy these smokes, so you're going to make sure that nobody should give them the time-of-day. "Yes", you say, "Tatuaje is the root of all evil in the cigar world and should be crucified at any given opportunity." Give me a fucking break and spare us all . . .
(And Yes, for the record, I just turned this into a class warfare issue.)

So you're saying it ISN'T ridiculous that Tatuaje produces 10-15 limits on a slow week? I find that a point that no one can really argue. They crank out more limiteds then anyone else in the cigar world today. On a serious note probably what 20-25 a year? Overrated and overpriced.
For the record the past 5 Tat's I've smoked sucked ass. I've never bought a box of any Tatuajes, and I've tried probably 15 different ones. (franks, tenderloins, La verite, T110's....plenty of the "better" ones)
Pete is just cranking out limiteds to produce $$$$$ and IMO it's foolish to continue to fund his stupidity. Obviously he's hit a new low but no one cares to notice. Watch next it "Tatuaje ....CIGAR!" Due out Monday by the way. Tatuaje "smoke" is coming out Tuesday....not sure on Wednesdays but Thursday is "Tatuaje Tobacco Stick". Friday's is Tatuaje "rolled leaf". Buy those up guys only $15 a piece.....good stuff. *wheres the jerk it smiley?*

Watching with interest, as I have been wondering about this tat brand too.
They are not available so much here in Toronto... some, but limited. And you guys sure sell them a lot here and hold on to the sticks you really love?

Bill,
I appreciate your reasoned response and you certainly raise some valid points and questions. I won't try and justify or rationalize Pete's motives when it comes to LE's. There sure seems to have been a rash of them recently and, at times, I also chuckle and shake my head.
Here, though, are two reasons, as to why I think we've seen so many of these lately:
1.) It is my understanding that any of his dealers, especially his higher volume ones, can "commission" an LE. (All it takes is cash.) This should be evident by the number of single-store LE's that have appeared lately - SODO, CMF5, Barclay-Rex 100th, Federal 90th (both wrappers), Anarchy, NHC (both wrappers), Black PL, and the list goes on. I doubt highly that any of these sticks would have appeared otherwise, unless those respective B&M's had not shelled out the money to make them a reality. To drive this point home, even a Tat dealer in Germany has had an LE made - Gran Cojonu wrapped in CT Broadleaf, so go figure. Regardless of what some may think, we will probably see more of these as this is an appealing concept to a lot of B&M owners.
2.) The other reason you see some Tat LE's is due to trademark registration. For whatever reason(s), Pete has applied for trademark protection on several names/words. I am not a lawyer of any sort but, I believe that once you file a trademark, you have a finite amount of time to produce an idea or product with that image, name, etc. Examples of this would be Holts HCS, the very recent Tattoo, and the upcoming Fausto Avion.
Anyway, these are two explanations as to why I think the Tat LE train seems to be running full-speed ahead. As with anything "cigar", your preferences and tastes may vary.
