Sometimes a small sacrifice for the bigger picture is needed. Even those people said they understand the police were doing their job. You can never be to safe in this day and age. Remember the police were chasing a sick ruthless cowardly killer. Its not unreasonable to think the killer might have taken a family hostage, strapped them with bombs, and planned to hide behind them to kill more people.

Oh by the way Im not in law enforcement and have NO family in law enforcement. To be honest I own a couple AR15s, a hand gun and a home defense shotgun and would have had no problems with the police searching my house like that if it meant saving lives of my neighbors and friends.

Disagree entirely.  "Small sacrifices" ultimately lead to a total erosion of personal liberties.  The fact that they were willing participants is even more disturbing.

A state where the police have the authority to detain the physical movements of its citizens by fiat is a police state.

The ultimate irony is that only after the "cower in place " orders were lifted and after an exhaustive unconstitutional house to house search conducted a normal citizen exercising his simple right to leave his house discover the person alluding authorities for days.

Too bad it wasn't your house, I would of loved to seen you in all your toughness tell them to go get a warrant and to fuck themselves.  Then we all could of seen you get your ass kicked on TV.  Now I'm done, I had to get that last dig in for the doughnut comment earlier...LOL

Coming from a law enforcement family where my dad served for 38 years, it pains me to read this, coming from a law enforcement officer. This is nothing short of a 'jack booted thuggery' attitude. I sincerely hope that you do not become a statistic one day, pushing your way around using your badge. I'm telling you, there are guys out there who don't give the first f^ck about your badge and will plug your ass first and ask questions later. It's this attitude that gives law enforcement a bad name and why every officer on the streets has a target on their backs. This is just a shameful statement for you to make.

Too many people have given up way too many rights under the guise of 'safety' or 'they're just doing their jobs'. I KNOW a law enforcement officer's job is difficult and I KNOW where their place is.

This today from Hizzonor Bloomberg:

““But we live in a complex world where you’re going to have to have a level of security greater than you did back in the olden days, if you will. And our laws and our interpretation of the Constitution, I think, have to change.....It really says something bad about us that we have to do it. But our obligation first and foremost is to keep our kids safe in the schools; first and foremost, to keep you safe if you go to a sporting event; first and foremost is to keep you safe if you walk down the streets or go into our parks,” he said. “We cannot let the terrorists put us in a situation where we can’t do those things. And the ways to do that is to provide what we think is an appropriate level of protection.”

This from Benjamin Franklin 1775:

They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.

Hey Bloomy, I've got a novel idea, secure the borders  :finger:
