I don't feel bad about humbling someone who is so closed minded to think that his $2-3 sticks are the best ever made, and that all other cigars outside of what he normally smokes are terrible. That was the point of this exercise, so sorry if you didn't get that.

Oh I got it. I just don't understand why you care so much. He's seems happy.

Gotta agree with Mo here...I'm not sure why you felt you needed to 'school this guy' on cigars. If he likes his dog rockets and thinks they're the best ever, power to him. I have some dog rockets in my humi that I enjoy and really don't care if anyone turns up their nose at them. If he thinks he knows cigars and is really just letting the band influence his decisions, power to him there too. By going out of your way to embarrass him by making him the center of a big joke and making him feel foolish, you're just coming off like an arrogant, know-it-all jerk. BOTLism isn't just extended to other experienced aficionados, it's to everyone who enjoys cigars IMO.

Did you read the entire thread ?

Go ahead and give someone $50 worth of aged CC smokes, only for them to smoke them for a few puffs and pitch them out, then take the time to send you a horrible review about the smokes you gifted them, and make you feel like you poisoned them.  Meanwhile, the cheap NCs he buys have 4 out of 5 star reviews (as reviewed by himself). Between that, and his attitude about his own 500 or so mediocre at best sticks in storage, and the fact that he is a self-proclaimed "supertaster", those are really the main reasons for what started this...

If you met him, he is the one who acts arrogant, bragging about his sticks and storage techniques and his 2 page detailed reviews for all of his sticks.  I didn't start sharing my sticks with him, until he gave me a few of his, and I have ALWAYS smoked anything he has given me to the end, without any complaints to him. On one hand I htink its great that he found some cheap sticks that he enjoys and likes, but on the other hand, he needs to be more open-minded about smoking things that others give him, CC or NC, or $2 or $10 a stick. I was hoping this might make him realize that too, but only time will tell.

Its not really a big deal, and I don't expect everyone to agree with the way I do things.  I also realize that alot of people here don't really appreciate my humor and that's fine too.

then what was the point of this thread? :rotf:

Don't worry, we can still be friends. I won't set up an elaborate prank in an effort to teach you to be more open-minded. :rotf:

I look back on the days of enjoying a cheap cigar with fondness. It was much less complicated and expensive.

I am not usually one to relish in someone being made out to be a fool, but this guy just might deserve it!

I reckon you should give him one of his favorite sticks, but swap the band with a CC and see what he says.
