Close membership and ask for a small yearly subscriber fee from current members to keep some $ coming in for the site. Then do referral only?

I think this is a fantastic idea.

Re: HARRY 007 do not buy
I'm seriously considering a small (but annoying) registration fee for new members. Probably something on the order of $5, but I've got to do come code writing to get the notification in the registration portion of the site.
Downsides are that I'm going to have to use either PP, Google Pay or the Amazon payment system for the registrations so all of the new members will have to have one or the other. It will also add a step to the registration process that someone (me or possibly my wife) will have to verify that the payment is received before the acct is activated.
None of this is overwhelming, just it takes time and that's something that I don't have a lot of lately.
At this time I have no intention of charging existing members for use of the site. That would be a change in philosophy that I'm not ready for today.

Wade, would requiring a registration fee add any level of security (in regards to eliminating or minimizing fraudulent users/accounts)?

Wade can just put his email account on the forum and they do a separate transaction that would not be linked to the form. Just as if someone was buying something from someone on the forum.

Re: HARRY 007 do not buy
The only thing that requiring payment will do is eliminate spammers, they will never pay, and it will make it harder for scammers to register the second or third time because they will have to pay for each new acct and if I keep a record of the PP accts that paid for the registrations then I should be able to sport them trying to re-register IF they try to use the same acct.
It won't stop them from creating a new PP acct, and that's not hard to do, and re-registering.
It will probably keep some of the jerks from registering 4 or 5 times just to come back and be a PITA. It will not make the place more secure.

Hi Wade,
Not saying I know shit from "Shinola" but my reason for being here is the open nature of the TBSC.
Most sites allow trading only for FOGs. One has to suffer through a hazing period before allowed into the club.
OLH is open to all.
I LIKE IT!
First rule of OLH, "Wade doesn't get involved in trades".
Second rule of OLH, "Wade doesn't get involved in trades".
That's what the BZ and TC is for.
In my opinion, as proven by recent events, it works reasonably well.
If other think they have a better way let them establish their own forum. I'll bet they won't have close to 5000 members as do you.

To know your only here for the TBSC solidifies most of our stance on what we think about you anyways.

Quite right.
I'm here to buy cigars as I imagine are most the members.
You should start your own forum for those who wish to discuss titties, boobies, blow jobs, reach arounds and anal intercourse.
I'm sure you and the Bros would have a great time

I'm here to buy and cigars in a free for all, no rules zone. I don't really care what the others are here for.
