I have early 2008 boxes from a known vendor in Canary Island and from OZ where the wrappers looks like TL's GR.  If you think they are fake, I have to talk to these two vendors.

I think both of the cigars I have that are from TL are fake (based on more than just the wrapper).  I can't make any determination on your cigars, but if you trust your vendor, I don't see a problem.

Known "good" vendors? Even known "bad" vendors can be legit Habanos dealers, yet have been known to pawn off fakes on the unsuspecting.

StogieRoadie: Let's be clear.  Monte 2 Gran Reservas are constructed of binder, filler and wrapper that are at least five years old.  Great marketing by Habanos, S.A. to extract more money from us.  ;)

I have regular production Monte 2's (to which I believe you are referring) that share a mottled wrapper similar to the fake examples in Andrew's pictures.  But they are two different animals entirely, likely only sharing size and a similar blend.  The main difference being the Gran Reserva is constructed of premium aged tobaccos in favor of the younger, more tannic tobaccos utilized in its regular production counterpart.

Another interesting thought/point is that I don't recall seeing an authentic Gran Reserva (D4's, Cohiba or now the Monte 2) that had a wrapper shade darker than colorado.  They all have been exceptionally rolled with some of the best Cuban wrappers I've seen outside of humidor releases.

I know what Monte GR's are supposed to be.  I commented on a previous post of Moki that TL GR's looks like a regular Monte 2 with GR band.  Moki then commented that if my Monte 2 looks like TL GR's then they are fake in his opinion.
